IN SUMMARY: Wearing first time cheekpieces for in form Paul Cole, MR POCKET can take advantage of the low draw and score here at a big price. Danecase is only two pounds higher for his win at Lingfield last month and heads up the dangers.
ROSE BERRY – All wins at five furlongs for this three year old filly but she has run some good races at this distance in the past at this distance. She goes well on the all weather and is on a dangerous mark, so has to be respected from a good enough draw.
NINJAGO – Course and distance winner who won three starts ago off a two pound lower mark, finishing third the last twice. He’s unlikely to be far away once again but he doesn’t win very often and that tempers enthusiasm. Each way claims only.
NEZAR – Only denied by a neck at Goodwood two starts ago but off today’s mark he was brushed aside at Newcastle when returned to the all weather. There were no obvious excuses there and he has plenty to prove now.
CAPPANANTY CON – Draw wide here which is an immediate concern and he arrives here on the back of a very poor run at Windsor last month. He’s handicapped up to his best now and it’s best to look elsewhere.
MR POCKET – Three very poor runs the last thrice and he now gets the equipment back as a result, that said, he has plenty to prove now and although his current mark isn’t particularly enticing, he has to have a chance given the draw in Stall 2.
HACKNEY ROAD – Consistent sort for John Butler who has a good strike-rate on the all weather, but she wasn’t at her best when last seen at this venue. She needs a strong pace here and she’s likely to get it, so shouldn’t be far away.
ZAPPER CASS – Four year old for Tony Coyle who ran better than the result suggested when fourth at Musselburgh on his latest start. That was a tough race and he now returns to the all weather off an attractive mark, which gives him winning claims today.
FIELD OF VISION – Probably given too much to do when fifth at Brighton on his latest start but his record now stands at two wins from thirty and his overall profile isn’t inspiring. He’s well below his last winning mark and should be happier back sprinting, but the percentage call is to avoid.
DANECASE – Has the plum draw in Stall 1 and he finished like a rocket to win at Lingfield on his latest start, raised two pounds as a result. That looks lenient and Jim Crowley now takes over the ride, so he’s won to take very seriously.
BORN TO FINISH – Has gone close the last twice on the polytrack for Jamie Osbourne, remaining on the same mark as for his close second when last seen at Chelmsford. Obvious claims here once again from a good draw.
DARK ALLIANCE – Has had a short-break since three dismal performances on his final starts for Adrian Keatley, all but tailed off on two occasions. Makes his debut today for Daniel Loughnane off a good mark but far too much to prove at present.
VERY HONEST – Now onto a very attractive mark for Brett Johnson and she wasn’t disgraced when fifth over course and distance on her latest start, losing two places close home. If saving a bit more turning in she’s a lively each way contender.
