2.40pm Plumpton tips for Monday’s Class 4 race. Interesting chase over an extended three mile trip. Only seven runners go to post, but it’s a solid contest for a Monday afternoon with some nice recruits capable of better. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: DONTMINDDBOYS ran a huge race on his seasonal return given that the ground will have been quick enough for him there. This mark is a workable one and with the winner of that recent contest going in again since, it looks strong form. Plantagenet looks the biggest danger, rattling off a four timer over hurdles he is of interest on his chasing debut. Velvet Cognac and Cucklington both have plenty of place form to their credit and look capable of adding more.
1 PLANTAGENET – A perfect 4/4 since joining this yard, he makes his chasing debut here. Didn’t give the impression last time that the handicapper was catching up, winning more comfortably than the margin suggests. A big player once more.
2 VELVET COGNAC – Just run out of it close home in a similar race at Fontwell last time. Would have a strong chance on that form but six places from nine runs under rules suggests he may find at least one too good once more.
3 DOUBLE ACCORD – Chasing debutante, she landed her maiden success over hurdles when stepped up to three miles on good ground. Wouldn’t want the ground to get any softer, might just be a few pounds too high in the weights.
4 BELMONT PARK – Shown very little so far, tried from two miles to three and on varying ground. Two distant third place finishes both came at shorter than this, easy enough to pass over on this occasion.
5 DONTMINDDBOYS – Yet to get his head in front but was placed from six pounds higher this time last year. Big runner-up effort behind a subsequent winner last time on ground too quick, this looks a winnable mark now back on more suitable ground. Big chance to break his duck.
6 CUCKLINGTON – Runner-up the last twice from this mark, first time blinkers added in a bid to extract more. Wouldn’t want the ground to get any softer than this and all best efforts going right handed, a stone above his form this way round, that’s a concern.
7 CORNER CREEK – Showed a hair more on his return to action this autumn at Uttoxeter. Yet to prove his stamina for this trip, nor get close to his bumper run when splitting 119 and 124 rated hurdlers. Needs more here but lightly raced to still have minor potential.
