2.40pm Catterick Tips & Betting Preview 31/10/2017

2.40pm Catterick tips for Tuesday’s Class 5 race. A two mile staying handicap, competitive in numbers, with a number of these front runners, it should be run at a proper clip. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Hurricane Hollow is yet to score on the flat but he is well treated on his hurdles form. Attention Seeker should have the race run to suit down in class with a number of front runners in opposition but IN FOCUS possibly the pick in this contest. The front runner will try to make all here, is a course winner off a decent mark and Jamie Gormley takes off 5 pounds.

1 ATTENTION SEAKER – Reformed since a tongue strap was fitted, scoring over course and distance on soft ground. Disappointing last time she was seen but that was a considerably better contest. Placed from a pound lower in the past, she holds an each way chance.

2 ONLY ORSENFOOLSIES – Yet to run beyond fourteen furlongs on the flat, he stays twenty-one over hurdles so is interesting trying this trip. Soft ground is no issue and won at this track over obstacles so a case can be argued if the new trip helps.

3 HURRICANE HOLLOW – Yet to win in seven starts on the flat, he remains well treated on his hurdles form. Runner-up to a well handicapped one last time at Ayr, this looks a softer contest. Soft ground is fine, solid each way chance from what looks a workable level.

4 TONTO’S SPIRIT – Bolted up here last time over a mile and six furlongs on soft ground. That was a weak contest, the handicapper hitting him with an extra nine pounds for this task. He had the run of the race in front there, yet to prove his stamina for this trip.

5 INGLEBY HOLLOW – Usual front runner, he came from last to score at Redcar last time. He was fully entitled to do that given where his mark had fallen to, an extra four pounds here looking more than fair. Stays this far and soft is fine, sound chance if building on that.

6 ROCK ON BOLLINSKI – Very disappointing since winning at Thirsk in August 2016. Showed a glimmer more last time, slipping to eight pounds below that win now, but plenty to be taken on trust to support over this sharper test.

7 BIANCA MINOLA – Ffos Las win on heavy probably shouldn’t be taken too literally, she looked to simply handle conditions best. A mile and a half is as far as she has gone, this is a very different test for her.

8 NEWT – Mildly progressive on good to firm ground in the summer, she faces a soft surface for the first time. By Sixties Icon, she may enjoy the more holding ground but has enough to prove for her third trainer in a little over three months.

9 ADHERENCE – Deep ground has seen him get his head in front twice this season at a minor level. Shapes as if this trip may bring further progression (especially on this surface) but this is a significantly deeper contest than either he won.

10 TRED SOFTLY – Slightly better form on synthetics so far, he is yet to encounter anything like ground this soft on turf. A mile and a half has always looked a sufficient test of stamina for him so plenty enough to prove.

11 IN FOCUS – Hasn’t got his head in front since September 2015, a seven furlong contest at Carlisle. Brave displays from the front the last twice (including here)  but will find others to take him on early which is a slight concern for his chances.

12 JAN SMUTS – Admirable campaigner, he needs every yard of this trip these days. Soft ground has never been his best surface in the past, slipping mark would be tempting on a sounder surface but easy enough to pass over.

13 LA BACOUETTEUSE – Another veteran, he has always does his best work at Musselburgh. Has placed form on soft but a sounder surface would suit better, doesn’t look one of the more likely winners.

14 CASEMATES SQUARE – Lightly raced, he showed much improved form on his handicap debut last time. Shaped there as if further than a mile and a half will suit him, with first time cheekpieces fitted back on turf. Looks capable of plenty of progression up in trip, big player.
