7.15pm Chelmsford tips for Thursday’s Class 5 contest raced over 7f for three year-olds and older. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: This is a perfect opportunity for DIAGNOSTIC to follow up her maiden win and she can take all the beating today. The handicapper has been kind to her by allotting her an opening mark of 75 and she can take full advantage here. Ibazz produced a good performance last time out and she can follow her home.
1 LADY LYDIA – Has struggled quite badly since winning a Class 5 handicap at Wolverhampton earlier in the year. The return to the All-Weather is a positive today having been well-beaten on the turf last time out but she has it all to do today. A mark of 77 remains tough for her.
2 IBAZZ – Ian Williams’ filly won at Newcastle in first-time cheekpieces last time out and she seeks a double today. A visor is applied for the first-time which is an interesting move and she’s only been raised 4lbs in the weights which looks reasonable. She should go well again.
3 AQUAMARINA – Robyn Brisland’s filly was highly-tried having broken her maiden on racecourse debut and she returns to a more realistic level here. She wasn’t beaten that far at Kempton over 7f last time out and she’s on decent enough terms with her older rivals in this.
4 ARIENA – Won a Chepstow maiden over 6f earlier in the season and she’s struggled to get her head in-front since. She’s 2lbs lower today following a 7-length defeat last time out and this grade should present her with plenty of possibilities. Adam Kirby is back in the saddle.
5 ALWAYS THANKFUL – Decent filly who notched up a couple of successes in handicap company earlier in the season. She ran well at Sandown over 7f last time out and she races off just a one pound higher mark today. Stall 7 makes life tricky though.
6 HIGH ON LOVE – Seeks her first handicap win having found a few too good last time out at Lingfield. She needs to take a big step forward on that form and she’s yet to win over further than 6f which is a concern. Others make more appeal here.
7 DIAGNOSTIC – Dutch Art filly hailing from top connections. She won a Class 5 maiden over C&D earlier in the month and Ryan Moore keeps the partnership intact again. A mark of 75 looks reasonable on handicap debut and she should be better than that rating.
8 PRETTY BUBBLES – Was a useful filly on her best days but she’s hit a regressive patch of late following some comfortable defeats in turf handicaps. She goes up against some young and improving fillies here and is best watched.
9 HIMALAYAN QUEEN – Has done all of her winning in much weaker events than this and she looks up against it in this stronger grade. A mark of 66 leaves her 4lbs above her last winning mark and others make far more appeal on form today.
10 MAGGIE PINK – Similar profile to Pretty Bubbles and Mick Appleby’s filly hit a peak rating of 96 following some excellent efforts in Class 2 and 3 company. She’s not hit those heights lately having been very well beaten on her last three starts and she can only be watched here.
11 ISSTOORA – Drops down in trip to 7f for the first time today and she’s an interesting runner off bottom weight. David Egan claims a handy 3lbs off her back and the first-time hood should help her to settle better. There’s more to come from her and stall 1 is ideal.
