2.40pm Southwell Tips & Betting Preview 26/10/2017

2.40pm Southwell tips for Thursday’s Class 4 race. Only a small field for this novices’ handicap chase, but an interesting field nonetheless, with the majority of these looking to make up into better chasers than hurdlers.. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: MIAMI PRESENT is the outsider of the field, but his experience of fences is going to be a huge advantage at a track where they come up thick and fast. He has a win here so it is surprising that he is so big. Twist On Ginge is bred to be better than his current handicap mark and may do better this season. Thomas Shelby ran his best race last season on his return which is a positive here but he looked weak in the finish on more than one occasion.

1 MIAMI PRESENT – Already boasts plenty of chasing experience, a winner at Market Rasen as well as over this course and distance already this season. He didn’t enjoy the softer ground last time out, so the return to a better surface will suit, big player.

2 RING MOYLAN – Promising debut under rules, before flopping here over this trip. That was over hurdles, interesting that connections quickly turn his attention to chasing so is worth considering despite perhaps being better suited to two and a half miles at present.

3 THOMAS SHELBY – Didn’t always impress with his finishing efforts last season, but he did run arguably his best race on his seasonal return. Fences were always going to be his game this season, but may need a little more rain to fall to add to his chance.

4 LOOKSNOWTLIKEBRIAN – Dual scorer over hurdles last season at Fontwell and Chepstow, winning at the latter track with plenty in hand. The handicapper had his say, which prevented any further progression. No great record fresh so best watched on this occasion.

5 TWIST ON GINGE – Ten race maiden, has shown ability at this trip but in the same vein still looks a little backwards. A half brother to the smart chaser Little Josh, he should make up into a solid type, with this trip suiting him well.
