4.00pm Plumpton tips for Monday’s Class 3 race. A deep race in terms of quality for Plumpton on a Monday afternoon, there are a number in here who look well capable of taking higher order over fences this season.. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: THEO’S CHARM has won on two of his three starts at this track, his only defeat coming to the 148 rated Theinval when only in receipt of five pounds. This mark of 134 looks generous off the back of that with the recent rain in his favour. Adrrastos is yet to finish outside the first three and while the recent rainfall is not in his favour, he still needs plenty of respect. Crystal Lad improved well last season, promising better still this season, while Ridgeway Flyer will be interesting to watch trying left handed for the first time.
1 THEO’S CHARM – Loves this track, a winner of two of his three starts here and runner-up the other. He has experience of fences from last season, including when only beaten two lengths by Theinval. That is strong form at this level, he holds an excellent each way chance.
2 MISS CRICK – Solid handicap hurdler is making her chasing debut. She was placed off a pound lower over the smaller obstacles in June, but two runs since have been less encouraging. Others look more progressive and wouldn’t want more rain.
3 ADRRASTOS – Yet to finish outside the first three in twelve career starts, he is a dual chase winner. He will have competition for the lead but is only five so looks capable of further progression. Best form has come on good ground so further rain would be a concern.
4 CRYSTAL LAD – Broke his duck in impressive fashion at Fontwell last season, before a strong run upped in grade in Sandown’s EBF Final. That form entitles him to respect, but he showed little over fences in two point to point runs including a fall, that sounds a note of caution.
5 RIDGEWAY FLYER – First run for Paul Nicholls having left Harry Fry. Can be keen so a first time hood is no shock on seasonal debut when he’ll be at his freshest. All runs for Fry were going right handed however and at a much softer level, has a little to prove.
6 BALLINURE – Three smart runs and three dire in his last six so hard to know which Ballinure turns up. This trip looks a little on the sharp side for him so despite two chase wins already in the book, he’s best watched with competition for the lead here.
7 RESOLUTION BAY – Finds hurdles an inconvenience, struggling with fluency. He is built to make a far better chaser with the bigger fences a plus to make him concentrate. This looks a sharp enough test for him however and further rain is a negative to his chances.
8 ACCORD – Showed ability over hurdles but really came into his own on his chasing debut last time out. This is a considerably deeper contest than the Fontwell handicap he won, but such was the impression he made, it would be folly to disregard.
9 OCTAGON – Only 1/13 in his career but boasts plenty of smart placed form. Strong start to life for this yard last time but that was over a year ago so despite conditions in his favour, might just need this to blow away the cobwebs.
10 APPLE OF OUR EYE – Solid enough handicapper at his level but similar marks have been beyond him in the past. Plenty of point to point types in his pedigree so should make a better chaser, will have to though to make an impact now.
