IN SUMMARY: OLIVER’S HILL was a comfortable winner last time out and he can defy the handicapper off a 10lb higher mark today. He beat Pearls Legend 8-lengths that day and this race could be set up perfectly for him. Breath Of Blighty can go best of the rest having run well here previously racing off a kind mark today.
MARRACUDJA – Has been beaten at short odds on his last couple of starts but he has some fair form to his name and a mark of 139 looks well-within his grasp in this handicap chase. The yard are operating at a 26% strike rate in the past fortnight. Likes to make the running.
NOCHE DE REYES – Finally gained a deserved win having placed three times in a row earlier this year. He was well-held in a competitive handicap last time out off a 7lb higher mark and he’s up another pound today. He has questions to answer though off a career high mark.
BRAAVOS – Was pulled-up on chase debut last time out having failed to jump fluently and he may struggle today off a mark of 134. He’s been given just shy of 3 weeks off and he will have been schooled again but this may come too soon and he is best watched.
PEARLS LEGEND – Another front-runner in this field and he’s produced some solid efforts lately with a win and a placed effort to his name. He races off the same mark of 129 today which is obviously positive although he’s aged 10 and may be vulnerable to a couple of improvers.
WORKBENCH – Won a handicap hurdle by a neck at Fontwell last month off a mark of 115 and he struggled to follow that effort up over fences next time out. He’s dropped 3lbs in the weights today and lowered in grade but this looks competitive and he may be best watched.
BACK BY MIDNIGHT – Won a Class 3 handicap chase at Taunton back in March and he makes his first start of the season today. He’s 5lbs higher than that mark which leaves him on a career high mark and he may be best watched in this although the ground will suit this front-runner.
OLIVER’S HILL – Beat Pearls Legend by 8-lengths last time out and he’s been raised 10lbs for that success. He should go well today in similar conditions albeit with something to prove off a much higher mark. There was lots to like about that last victory though.
BREATH OF BLIGHTY – Has only won once from 14 starts but that came at this track earlier in the year and he should have improved for a recent run at Huntingdon. He ran well that day to finish midfield and a mark of 116 should be well-within his range so he commands plenty of respect.
