2.10pm tips for Yarmouth’s Class 4 race. A field of 15 go to post for this interesting Novice race over the seven furlong trip. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Alfrarqad cost $1,300,000 as a yearling and ran well on debut when third at Newbury, with that form likely to see him going very close here. Preference though is for SHERIFF, who is a son of Lawman who made a promising debut over course and distance for Michael Bell, finishing sixth. His horses tend to improve for their first run and with the better ground a likely plus, he can improve sufficiently to take victory here.

1 ALFARQAD – Son of War Front who cost $1,300,000 as a yearling, making the running when third at Newbury in September. He’s more than likely to improve for that experience and with such a striking pedigree, he won’t be far away here.

2 AMPLIFICATION – Price sky-rocketed as a two year old, with his dam being a half-sister to the smart Leading Light. This trip is a good starting point on debut but Dunlop’s tend to need the run and he’s best watched.

3 CONVERSANT – Cost 100,000gns as a two year old but didn’t improve from a poor debut at Thirsk for Hugo Palmer, finishing a disappointing seventh at Lingfield when last seen. Hard to make a case for him here.

4 DARK SIDE JAZZ – Bought this July for 6,000gns and he certainly doesn’t take the eye on paper, looking up against it on debut for John Ryan. Others make plenty more appeal and he’s best watched.

5 GO FOX – Not without promise on debut for Tom Colver, finishing ninth over course and distance after being too keen early, only weakening inside the final furlong. More is needed here though and in a deeper race, he’s best watched until hitting the handicaps.

6 HERDWICK – Well backed on debut and didn’t disgrace himself, finishing fourth after being prominent throughout the contest. He should improve on that course and distance run and he holds strong each way claims for top connections.

7 HUMBOLT CURRENT – Royal runner who is a son of Fastnet Rock and is a half-brother to six furlong two year old winner Husbandry. He is bred with a good mix of speed and stamina, with the booking of Buick a positive. One to watch very closely on debut.

8 JAWAN – Refused to enter the stalls on his course and distance debut twenty-six days in the race where Herdwick finishing fourth. He’s bred to be speedy but he doesn’t make much appeal after his antics last time.

9 PASS MARK – Cost 10,000gns as a yearling and is bred to be quick on debut, with plenty of pace in his breeding. That said, he’ll need to be very useful on debut and others make plenty more appeal as he’s entitled to need this.

10 SHERIFF – Sent off 25/1 on debut for Michael Bell and he displayed plenty of promise, keeping on well after being held up. Bell’s often need their first run and he makes plenty of appeal on pedigree, so he’s taken to make sizeable improvement to take victory here with better ground a possible help.

11 SPRING PRAISE – Brother to 6f-1m winner Mirage for the Marco Botti yard, making plenty of appeal on paper. He cost 90,000gns as a yearling and is worth a second look on debut, as he holds each way claims if living up to his breeding.

12 TIMOSHENKO – Sent off at odds of 25/1 and 100/1 respectively on his runs thus far for Sir Mark Prescott, displaying little to no ability. He was all but tailed off at Kempton when last seen and makes no appeal here.

13 VANTASY – Cost 12,500gns as a yearling and is a son of Rip Van Winkle, related to plenty of useful types. Chris Wall can have winners first-time up, but others do make more appeal on paper and in such a deep race, he’s best watched on debut.

14 WILLIE JOHN – Son of Dansili who cost 325,000gns as a yearling and is out of a dual Group 1 winner, making lots of appeal on paper for a top yard. He is in the able hands of Gerald Mosse on debut and looks sure to go close.

15 BLACK LOTUS – Sent off at 50/1 on debut for Chris Wall but showed plenty to work with, staying on strongly late on to finish sixth. She is entitled to improve for that experience now making her turf debut and holds each way claims under George Wood, who rode her on debut.
