IN SUMMARY: This is a wide open contest and a chance is taken on CROSSE FIRE continuing his form back onto the All-Weather. He’s exploited a low turf mark this summer, but he’s a useful sort on his day and he can get the better of Tilly Trotter who races off a fair mark on her first start on the sand in the UK.
SUMNER BEACH – Drops down to the minimum trip following some less than successful attempts over further. A mark of 80 looks relatively high on what he’s achieved to date, although his three-year-old allowance will help and the yard are in fine form. Respected.
TILLY TROTTER – Recorded two victories at Dundalk over the minimum trip so today’s conditions should be ideal. She races off a mark of 80 which could leave her something to work with and any market support would be make her of real interest.
GAMESOME – One win from 31 starts is less than inspiring, although Paul Midgley’s runner was only beaten a length last time out at Pontefract. That form would give him a chance in this, but his record makes him an extremely risky prospect. Others make more appeal.
MUATADEL – Ran with credit in a Class 3 event over 6f at Hamilton last time out. The switch to the All-Weather is an interesting one considering that his best performances have been on the turf, yet he remains on a decent enough mark and Tony Hamilton keeps the partnership intact.
TWIZZELL – Looks reasonably well handicapped following some fair efforts in decent enough handicaps. She should be suited by today’s conditions on her first attempt on the All-Weather and the yard know the time of day so she commands respect.
WADOOD – Needs to improve on what he has shown to date having finished last of four at Catterick last time out. Something was clearly amiss that day and he’s been given a small break since so that makes him of interest here if connections have straightened him out. Best watched for a yard out of form.
SANDRA’S SECRET – Drops in grade to a more realistic level following a comfortable defeat in a Class 2 event last time out. She looks high enough in the weights here in a competitive event and she may be outclassed. Opposed.
CROSSE FIRE – Has taken advantage of a low mark on the turf this summer and that’s seen him produce some solid efforts. He races off a reasonable mark of 77 in this and Paddy Piley claims a handy 5lbs which should make his life easier. Respected.
SUWAAN – Course and distance winner off a break earlier this season and he’s improved gradually since then. A mark of 75 looks reasonable based on his run at Doncaster last month, but the yard have failed to send out a winner from their last 25 runners so he’s opposed on that basis.
FRUIT SALAD – Has a victory on the All-Weather over the minimum trip, but she will have to improve to come out on top here. Her latest efforts on the turf were relatively poor, however she should bounce back now switched to this track. More is needed off a mark of 75 though.
BAHANGO – Hasn’t been seen since earlier this season and he may just need this run in preparation for a winter campaign. He won twice over the winter, including once over this course and distance and the booking of Lewis Edmunds is positive having ridden him to victory on that occasion.
LIQUID – Lightly raced and he seeks his first win in handicap company. He was only beaten a length on fast ground at Newmarket in July which is a decent bit of form and a mark of 71 could be exploited on the All-Weather. Ben Curtis is an eye-catching booking.
NOAH AMOR – Finished second at Chelmsford last time out to a useful You’re Cool. He remains on the same mark which looks fair and he has steadily improved throughout the season so he’s entitled to go well again. Silvestre De Sousa rides.
FIRST BOMBARDMENT – Two wins from 32 starts is a poor record and David O’Meara’s runner can be opposed here. He’s finished last on his previous two starts on varying ground and he doesn’t look likely to take advantage of a 4lb drop in the weights.
