IN SUMMARY: This is wide open and SIR PLATO gets the vote to continue his excellent form this year. He’s a course and distance winner and he could progress again off this mark ahead of Ghalib who has slipped to an attractive mark for the Amy Murphy stable following some moderate efforts lately.
BREDEN – Linda Jewell’s runner won a Newbury handicap last time out by a short head and she’s been raised 3lbs for that success. Robert Winston keeps the partnership intact today and he should go well again given that he remains fairly treated on old form.
GHALIB – Has failed to improve since arriving at Amy Murphy’s yard earlier this year. He has slipped right down the weights and the booking of Richard Kingscote looks positive, so he’s worth close attention in the betting now back up to a mile.
MANCHEGO – Has failed to set the world alight in some decent enough handicaps, although the Soft ground may have been an issue on both of those starts. The switch to better ground may spark a small revival in him off a 4lb lower mark for a yard with a 19% strike rate in the past fortnight.
WHIP NAE NAE – Looks to complete a double today following a win over a mile at Newmarket back in August. The softer ground may be an issue and could explain why he’s been withdrawn from races in similar conditions and that must be a negative here.
BLACK TRILBY – Clive Cox’s son of Helmet has yet to break his maiden from eight starts and he’s gone backwards lately. The switch to softer ground should suit, although the yard is going through a rough patch at present which is a negative. Opposed here.
REAVER – Races in first-time cheekpieces today off a 3lb lower mark following some mixed performances in large field handicaps. His run at Kempton last month would entitle him to run a big race here and he could bounce back to form in this slightly weaker race.
SIR PLATO – Has been in excellent form this year, recording multiple wins in varying conditions. He’s a course and distance winner and there’s every chance he can get back to winning ways again now switched back to the conditions he loves. Respected.
ALEMARATALYOUM – Won a Soft ground Chepstow handicap last time out by a 1 1/4 length margin. This is significantly tougher and a 3lb higher mark will make life more difficult, yet he does remain unexposed over a mile. Interesting.
DUTCH UNCLE – Has been beaten a long way in all five starts for this yard since arriving in mid-summer. He’s 8lbs below his last winning mark which makes him of interest, although his recent form doesn’t entitle him to get involved here. Opposed.
DRAGONS VOICE – Has a course and distance win to his name which came on this ground earlier in the summer. He’s only a pound higher today which looks fair, although Richard Kingscote who has ridden him to success before rides Ghalib instead today. Best watched.
