Prix de la Foret tips for Sunday’s Group One race. Ten runners go to post over the seven-furlong trip looking to add some of the big prize money to their owner’s pockets with some decent money all the way down to fifth. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: A tightly matched contest on paper at least but it may well be worth taking the chance on TOSCANINI (Each Way) whose form is far better than it looks at first glance and he can put in a huge run at a decent price under the excellent James Doyle for trainer Richard Fahey if he can repeat or better his Sussex Stakes fifth over this even more suitable trip.

1 KARAR – One for the shortlist after the five-year-old won last time out over course and distance when beating Empire Of The Star by a length and a half on similar going to this afternoons. He does need to find a little more to actually win a race of this magnitude but seems to be late maturing sort and is still on an upward curve and he may well and the each way bets if able to improve just a fraction more.

2 ZELZAL – Two runs without a win so far this season for the son of Sea The Stars and he was far from disgraced when a two and a half-length fourth to Here Comes When in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood when badly hampered when he was last seen in July. The drop back to seven furlongs looks interesting and he seems sure to get involved in the finish here under jockey Gregory Benoist.

3 BRANDO – His last win was at Deauville on Good ground in August over slightly shorter than this and he would be the likeliest winner by far were this over slightly shorter. He has got winning form on soft going but does seem at his best on a faster surface and with a question mark against his stamina in these conditions he may have to settle for a place today with Tom Eaves riding the five-year-old for trainer Kevin Ryan.

4 ACLAIM – Took the Park Stakes at Doncaster over this trip last time out by three-quarters of a length from Nathra after a good ride from Oisin Murphy who also rides the four-year-old this afternoon. He is held by Brando on Deauville form but is far better suited to this extended trip and seems sure to put in a bold attempt this afternoon under his likeable jockey.

5 TOSCANINI – Way better than the form figures suggest and perhaps overpriced as well when you look at his three-length fifth in the Sussex Stakes and his more recent second to Talaayeb in the Group Three City of York Stakes when he was only beaten a neck when trying to give the winner eight pounds. Sure to appreciate a fast run race here and likely to be produced late by James Doyle, and arrives here with decent each way possibilities.

6 ZALAMEA – It is hard to make a realistic case for the four-year-old who is held by Brando on August form when he was six lengths plus behind the winner in eight and he is also held by Karar and Dame Du Roi on September form leaving him with a mountain to climb here. Three of his four wins have come on the all-weather at Marseille Pont-de-Vivaux (twice) and Deauville with just the one on turf in a Saint-Cloud maiden last season and Eddy Hardouin’s mount looks up against it in this company back on the grass.

7 SO BELOVED – Although David O’Meara’s gelding has won at up to Group Three class he hasn’t won at all in sixteen races now with a four and three-quarter length fourth to Donjuan Triumphant at Haydock his latest effort. He would have each way chances of bouncing back to his very best but that does seem unlikely at present and others appeal an awful lot more.

8 ATTENDU – Maxime Guyon’s mount won with a bit in hand last time out at Deauville over the mile when sent to the front at the last moment by the same jockey but will need a fast run race if he wants to repeat those tactics here over a furlong shorter. A lively each way alternative in an intriguing race and won’t be far away at the finish.

9 REALTRA – Roger Varian trains the five-year-old daughter of Dark Angel who has now won eight of her twenty-four starts and over £328,000 in win and place prize money. Last time out she finished a length and three-quarters in front of Drumfad Bay at Tipperary in the Group Three Fairy Bridge Stakes over this trip, going away at the line and although this is a better contest on paper she is in form and won’t go under without a fight.

10 DAME DU ROI – The only three-year-old in the contest for jockey turned trainer Freddie Head and the winner of three of her eight starts, but all as a juvenile. This season she has finished second at Maisons-Laffitte and more recently third to Karar here over this course and distance and she meets her conqueror on two pounds worse terms now. Up against it if that is as good as she is, and likely to struggle in this line-up.
