4.05pm Kempton tips for Monday’s Class Four race. Fourteen horses are due to go to post here over the seven furlongs to compete for the £4,528 first prize in what should be an intriguing race. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: If Richard Hughes thinks ODYSSA can carry her three pound penalty to success upped in trip then presumably she can, and although this is a tough looking lineup full of unknown quantities and potential improvers, she has the ability and the experience to see them all off this afternoon under regular pilot Shane Kelly.

1 ODYSSA – Upped in trip now after winning on her second start at Ascot over six furlongs, only needing to be pushed clear by jockey Shane Kelly who also rides today. The daughter of Kodiac has an added three pounds now but may well improve for an added furlong and she has to be seen as a major player again despite some well-bred newcomers

2 BENGER’S PURSUIT – Trainer Jo Hughes is having a quiet spell and this unraced daughter of Pastoral Pursuits would be a rare first time out winner for the yard. Half-sister to Italian winner Chassis but she really looks outclassed here unless the market suggests otherwise.

3 BLACK LOTUS – An unraced half-sister to the useful Blazing Pass in the capable hands of Newmarket trainer Chris Wall and on paper she looks an interesting sort. George Wood takes a very useful three pounds off her back and although she is bred to need a bit of time, she is still an intriguing entry.

4 BREXITMEANSBREXIT – Richard Hannon does remarkably well with his juveniles and it will be interesting to see where the daughter of Helmet opens up in the on-course betting. She is a half-sister to the 103 rated Group Three winner Rosso Corsa and thus has to be of interest here.

5 GRACE’S SECRET – Once raced for Ed Walker when sent off a 66/12 chance at Leicester over this trip where she finished a well-beaten eighth, twelve and a half-length off the winner after starting slowly. She should know more now but is still difficult to make any case for.

6 HEPTATHLETE – Anything but a precocious pedigree as a daughter of Mount Nelson out of an English Channel mare, and George Baker’s newcomers can improve for the experience. Possibly best watched for future reference here but may still acquit herself respectably enough.

7 HOMEOPATHIC – Beautifully bred newcomer for the Sir Michael Stoute yard who have had endless success with the Cheveley Park Stud fillies over the years. No fancy entries as yet which is a bit of a surprise but she is still sure to run well first time out and looks destined for better things in the long term – Ted Durcan rides.

8 ISLE OF AVALON – Sir Mark Prescott trained filly who finished an acceptable fifth of seven at Carlisle on heavy going on her only run to date earlier this month when beaten fifteen lengths at the line. Sure to improve but may be seen in a better light in nurseries or even as a three-year-old.

9 POWER AND PEACE – Tries the polytrack for the first time here after a very good head second to Indomeneo at Wetherby following a debut fourth. She gets the three pounds for Odyssa and on form alone, the two of them look the ones most likely to fight out the finish.

10 POYLE CHARLOTTE – An unraced daughter of Farhh and a half-sister to Puddle Duck who is the best of her relatives but didn’t stay as far as this seven furlongs but was a decent enough sprinter. Pat Dobbs rides but others look better suited to this event on paper at least.

11 RAHAABA – Owen Burrows has his horses going well and had a newcomer win last week at Yarmouth with Mutaaqeb which bodes well for the chances of the unraced Dubawi filly. Admittedly she doesn’t hold any Group entries yet but the market may yet be the best guide to her chances today with Jim Crowley in the saddle.

13 TEENAGE GAL – Ed Dunlop’s filly is bred to improve with experience and is perhaps one to make note of for future races. A daughter of Acclamation she is a half-sister to the well-named Big Bad Bob who stayed a mile and a quarter at Group level, and she may well be better off over further than this next season.

14 TIMPANI – She cost connections 170,000 Guineas at the Tattersalls October Sales last year and will need to win races to start to repay that faith. She is related to numerous winners but mostly over further and may well do better next season, but if the market talks in her favour under comeback King Micky Mackay, then she may have a better chance than it appears at first glance.
