7.15pm Newcastle tips for Friday’s Class 5 nursery. Six furlongs is the task set for the juveniles, chasing a first prize of a little over £3,200. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: REVENGE went close when not getting home over seven furlongs last time out. The step down in trip will suit him and he looks the one to be with in this field. Armed Response is interesting if acting on the surface having looked impressive when winning at Hamilton. Geesala Brave has stepped forward each run, with his opening mark looking fair.

1 ARMED RESPONSE – Impressively made all the running at Hamilton in June, he has not hit those heights the last twice. Soft ground and being held up are possible excuses for those below par efforts with this opening mark looking on the low side on his win. If acting on the surface for the first time and reverting to front running tactics he would have a big chance.

2 SOSIAN – Looked solid on her first two runs, she flopped badly when a short priced favourite last time. That was on soft ground so perhaps that is a ready made excuse; however, considering that she’s by Showcasing and related to soft ground winners she should have handled it better than she did. She ran on this Tapeta surface on debut so this is to her liking, with her opening gambit looking fair at 74 on her middle run.

3 INDIAN WARRIOR – Solid enough without progressing in his first four runs. However, he was a long way below that level last time out on his nursery debut on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton. That has to be a significant concern on the same surface from the same mark so is easily passed over with so much to prove.

4 GEESALA BRAVE – Steadily progressive in his three runs for a mark, his challenge just flattened out up the hill at Carlisle last time. This flatter six furlong trip should suit him well, with the handicapper not being too harsh on him as he moves into handicap company. John Quinn does better on turf than the sand with his juveniles, but that is a small niggle in an otherwise sound chance.

5 GANGLAND – Chased home a couple of decent sorts while qualifying for a mark, but has struggled badly since moving into this discipline. His effort in Ireland last time can be easily excused as he was thrown in the deep end, but he is going to have to return to close to his best on his Tapeta debut if he is to score here.

6 ONESARNIESHORT – Best effort came over this trip on his debut, unable to muster the pace to challenge stepped back down to five furlongs the last twice. He has been gelded since he was last seen which could see him in a better light, with this step back up to six furlongs in his favour. He isn’t obviously well treated as he moves into handicap company, but it would be no surprise to see him in the mix.

7 DUKE OF FREEDOM – Has shown form over both this trip and further in three runs on turf for a mark. He hasn’t been treated too kindly by the assessor judged on his form that’s in the book and is going to need a little more if he is to get in the mix. However, after just three runs that is entirely possible.

8 ELUSIVE BIRD – Showed little in three maidens so far, she is at least at the right end of the weights to start out her handicapping life. It still looks like a tough enough starting point for her so she is difficult to support.

9 REVENGE – Didn’t quite get home at Kempton last time over seven furlongs having shown plenty of early speed. That was the best effort of his career, with the step down to six furlongs looking sure to suit on that performance. His mark has been unchanged which is something of a surprise; if he can reproduce that then he has a strong chance of breaking his duck.

10 FRENCH SILK – Showed a bit more last time, however that performance was a long way above anything else that she has demonstrated so she needs to be taken with a pinch of salt for now. She may find her perch in a lowly handicap over this winter, but from five pounds out the weights here, this is going to be a very tough task for her.
