2.05pm Chester Tips & Betting Preview 16/09/2017

A five furlong nursery to start the Chester ITV racing coverage on Saturday with eleven runners set to go to post around the Roodee chasing a little over £11,000 to the winner. Our expert tip and runner by runner preview is below.

IN SUMMARY: MR GREENSIDE is twelve pounds better off for a four and three-quarter length beating from Falabelle when they last met. On ground that will suit him better than her, it’s incredible that he is more than three times her price. He looks way too big and has to be backed each way. Mable Lee is another who will enjoy the ground being on the soft side while Porchy Party may get the race set up to suit his stamina at this trip with a number of front runners in this contest.

1 SIMMY’S COPSHOP – Debut beating of Havana Grey looks smart form now given what that rival has done but this horse has failed to progress from that outing. He plugged on well over an extra furlong in a Listed contest two runs back but the soft ground that day didn’t really look to suit and he appeared to need further. The step down in trip and softer ground still therefore are both huge negatives.

2 VISCOUNT LOFTUS – A smart winner either side of a well beaten effort in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. He is drawn to get on the attack early here from stall two, tactics that could suit him perfectly around this tight track. He is yet to encounter ground as soft as this in his career, but both parents handled cut in the ground fine so he may yet improve for a little give.

3 ANGEL FORCE – Just a single win in eight starts, but it came on good to soft ground. She is a massive twenty pounds higher than on that occasion having taken a huge hit in the ratings for a smart effort at Listed level last time. She was beaten last time in a handicap from 69 and although the winner of that contest is also a progressive type, to win this from 85 is going to require another step forward from her.

4 CHATBURN – Twice a winner over this trip, he got the better of subsequent Weatherbys Super Sprint winner Bengali Boys at Redcar to break his duck. He is a huge twenty-one pounds better off with Angel Force for a two length beating in a York nursery two runs back, but his runs with cut in the ground thus far suggest he won’t be able to cash in on that swing in the weights.

5 FALABELLE – Showed bundles of pace to break her duck at Musselburgh on good to firm ground, she should find this speed track to her liking. She was comprehensively beaten on soft ground in the Weatherbys Super Sprint which is a little concerning given the current conditions and she may not find it so easy to get on the front end with Viscount Loftus in opposition.

6 HARROGATE – Twice placed from three starts, he didn’t quite get home over six furlongs two starts ago before finding one with a little too much finishing pace last time out. He went from the front on that occasion which will be hard to replicate from stall nine and his worst run came on debut on the softest ground he has been seen on.

7 BRANDY STATION – Left the yard of Tony Coyle for £18,000 after a runner-up effort at Musselburgh. Both of his best efforts have come on quick ground, considerably his worst coming on good to soft. That is a significant concern with a draw in ten unlikely to be any help to him either.

8 PORCHY PARTY – Won a nursery at Carlisle last month showing plenty of early speed on good to soft ground. He flopped since on a much quicker surface when unable to defy a penalty. That perhaps came a little soon for a juvenile with the return to softer ground having the potential to suit him. He made all the running at Carlisle which is going to be difficult in this field but experience over a much stiffer five furlongs should stand him in good stead if they go too hard in front.

9 MR GREENLIGHT – Yet to get closer than third in his four starts, but his two best have both come with cut in the ground. He is twelve pounds better off with Falabelle for a four and three-quarter length beating which should allow him to turn that around on ground that will suit him better. It is very surprising that he is as big a price given his best form has come on this ground, he looks massively overpriced which suits us down to the ground for an each way play.

10 MABLE LEE – Got off the mark on her handicap debut over this trip at Thirsk. She enjoyed the cut in the ground there, her best run in maiden company also coming on soft ground. That was a decent quality nursery for the track, with a five pound rise perfectly fair given that performance. She looks open to plenty more improvement while the ground is in her favour, looks a shade overpriced.

11 JOEGOGO – Yet to get his head in front in five starts so far, showing no improvement for a gelding operation last time. He has the worst of the draw in eleven here at a level that looks beyond what he is capable of winning at, tough to fancy.
