3.55pm Leicester Tips & Betting Preview 12/09/2017

A field of ten go to post for the fourth race of the day at Leicester on Tuesday. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Both Maori Bob and Medalla De Oro arrive here looking for hat-tricks and shouldn’t be far off, with the latter the likely second from the front. The probable winner, however, is HAREBELL who won well two starts ago at York before being found out in a tactical affair at Salisbury on her latest start. Medalla De Oro will ensure that this is a truly run race which is exactly what she wants and, as a result, she can resume her progressive profile to land the spoils.

1 CAPTAIN NAVARRE – Won on his latest start at Kempton in March 2016. He subsequently left Lydia Pearce and makes his debut today for Charlie Fellowes off the back of a 535 day absence. He’ll need to return at the very peak of his game off of two pounds higher than his previous mark and he can only be watched after such a mammoth absence.

2 CAPONOVA – Won at Haydock back in April over the 1m 2f trip and he’s not been disgraced since then for Tom Dascombe. He made his first start at the 1m 4f trip when last seen at Haydock, doing his best work when the race was all over. He remains unexposed at this distance and, off of a two pound lower mark, he looks a strong each way contender under Richard Kingscote.

3 SEAN O’CASEY – Very disappointing on two of his last three runs, although he did leave those two poor efforts behind him when third at Bath on his latest start. He made most that day and was only headed at the two furlong pole, keeping on gallantly. He remains on the same mark and Silvestre De Sousa takes over the ride, so he has definite each way possibilities if improving again for Mick Appleby.

4 ALL MY LOVE – Has finished second on two of her four runs since returning to the flat, but she posted a poor effort on her latest start when looking laboured at Kempton back in June. She’s been given a break now and needs to resume her progress down two pounds in the handicap. That is entirely possible and conditions are fine, but others make more appeal and she’s best watched today under Rob Hornby.

5 THE NEW PHARAOH – Course and distance winner for Chris Wall who added to his tally on his penultimate start at Doncaster, keeping on well towards the line and he was raised two pounds as a result. That saw him well held at Haydock on his latest start, not beaten too far but he was never competitive at any stage. The yard remains in good form and he is likely capable of better, but he does have something to prove now.

6 HAREBALL – Won on her penultimate start at Windsor in July in good style, never seemingly on her game when sixth at Salisbury when last seen when bidding to double up. She was never the pace to challenge in a strangely run affair and this race should be much more to her liking. Prior to that race she looked progressive and can resume that thread for in form connections with conditions to suit.

7 NEAR KETTERING – Produced his best effort since his debut for Luca Cumani when a close fourth at Newmarket three weeks ago, keeping on strongly and he is interesting upped to this distance. There is good reason to believe that he’ll stay this distance and, if doing so, it should see him improving by some margin. He is the least exposed of these and, with Ryan Moore taking the ride, he looks a very likely candidate.

8 MAORI BOB – Has won his last two starts for Michael Bell under today’s rider – five pound claimer Lulu Stanford – winning with something in hand on his latest run at Beverley. He’s now seven pounds higher and he doesn’t look to have stopped improving yet, with today’s conditions fine. The Bell yard have their affairs in good order at present and he looks sure to play a leading role at the finish.

9 MEDALLA DE ORO – Has won both his starts since being gelded for Peter Chapple-Hyam, making all in very comfortable fashion at Windsor on his latest start. He’s been raised six pounds as a result, yet he stays further than this and looks a key player after only nine runs, leaving him still with improvement to be had. Jack Mitchell retains the ride and a bold bid from the front looks likely.

10 PHOENIX DAWN – Three-year-old for Brendan Powell who is pretty consistent but has only won once from 13 starts for connections. He continued to be frustrating when beaten by a neck at Salisbury on his latest start and he looks set for minor honours again, facing a field full of in form rivals who have the winning habit.
