7.55pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 06/09/2017

A field of thirteen go to post for the sixth race of the evening at Kempton on Wednesday. See our betting tips and full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Narjes is worth her chance at this trip and should be on the premises under Tom Queally, but she’ll have to improve some way to beat VENTURA BLUES. She has a good record here and was second on her latest start in a Class 4 event over course and distance, only beaten half a length by an improving sort. She looks very tough to beat back down in class and could record a third career victory for her in-form trainer Richard Hannon.

1 SKIDBY MILL – Course and distance winner for Laura Mongon who hasn’t won off a mark this high in the past, three pounds higher than for her latest win back in January. She was last seen when last at Chelmsford in April and she returns from a 132 day absence looking highly vulnerable under Oisin Murphy. Others are preferred on this occasion as she’s entitled to need this.

2 THE YELLOW BUS – Joined the John Butler yard for his last two starts, winning on her yard debut with a ready victory at Wolverhampton in July. Off of three pounds higher she wasn’t beaten far at Yarmouth on her latest start and her mark remains unchanged. She has run well here in the past and, in her current vein of form, she has to be respected under seven pound claimer Darragh Keenan.

3 VENTURA BLUES – Has a good record here with two second placed efforts, the latest of those coming over course and distance on her latest start. She was only headed at the finish on that run by an improving sort and the handicapper hasn’t changed her mark, which looks extremely generous. This is a drop in class and, with the Richard Hannon team in such great form, she looks very tough to beat here.

4 BRAZTIME – Finished fourth over course and distance back in July, although that was a blanket finish for the placings and she’s been poor in two subsequent runs. She didn’t stay the 1m 2f trip on her latest start so she has excuses there, but she isn’t obviously well treated and the handicapper has her exactly where he wants her. Possible each way claims but nothing more.

5 CAROL – Won on her penultimate start at Chepstow in a maiden race, but she was beaten at odds-on when returning to handicaps on her latest start. She was sent off 5/6 favourite – that was a weaker race than this – so further improvement is desperately needed if she’s to win here. The in-form James Doyle takes over the ride which is interesting, but it doesn’t do enough to tempt on this occasion.

6 HARMONISE – Won at Newmarket back in May under today’s rider Silvestre De Sousa, however she’s been very poor on all three starts since then. She weakened tamely when asked at Chepstow on her latest start, six lengths behind Carol and she’s only a pound lower here – still three pounds above her last winning mark. It’s not hard to look elsewhere on this occasion.

7 NARJES – Ran well on her final maiden start when narrowly denied at Wolverhampton behind an odds-on favourite, last seen at this venue over the seven furlong trip where she was a close third. She finished with a purpose and looks ready for this step up in trip off of only a one pound higher mark. Connections are in good form at present and she looks sure to play a role under Tom Queally.

8 HIDDEN CHARMS – Won on debut for David Simcock with a strong late burst, but she’s been beyond disappointing on her last two runs, finishing last on both occasions. She was beaten over 100 lengths when tailed off at Newbury on her latest start and, although she’s obviously capable of better, she’s impossible to recommend on the back of those efforts, despite the current form of connections.

9 SOUTH SEA BELLE – Finished fourth in all three of her maidens for David Menuisier, although the drop back in trip to six furlongs on her handicap debut clearly backfired as she finished well beaten after being outpaced throughout. She will appreciate this step up in trip to the mile now and couldn’t be discounted for placings as she’s completely unexposed. Nevertheless, a fair amount of improvement is needed if she’s to be winning this.

10 MANY A TALE – Well held since being switched to handicaps for Ismail Mohammed, last seen at Wolverhampton where she could only manage sixth. She is, however, interesting thanks to the introduction of cheekpieces and a new surface. Improvement would be no surprise and this lightly raced sort should relish this step up in trip, so she should be sure to play a role under Ben Curtis and is considered.

11 SCALA REGIA – Won over course and distance three starts ago when just hanging on by a head, but she has been well beaten off this mark the last twice and she needs a career best to take victory. Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris arrive here in good form and she still remains with potential for better, however she does look vulnerable for win purposes off of this mark.

12 SEA TEA DEA – Won on handicap debut at Lingfield in January over the seven furlong trip, but she’s been soundly beaten on two runs since and she looks vulnerable off the same mark for Anthony Carson. She returned from a break on her latest start so is entitled to have needed that run. Even so, she isn’t certain to appreciate this step up in trip and others are readily preferred.

13 DELIRIUM – Posted a career best effort when second at Chepstow back in July for Ed de Giles, yet she has failed to build on that in two subsequent runs. She showed very little when brushed aside at Chepstow 13 days ago and she will do well to threaten in this race from two ponds oustide the handicap. Jane Elliott does take off five pounds which helps, but she should miss out here.
