IN SUMMARY: Both Court Dismissed and Jack Snipe arrive here on hat-tricks and are respected, but preference is for PACKETTOTHERAFTERS. Gary Hanmer’s eight-year-old made a hugely encouraging handicap debut at Uttoxeter when last seen, keeping on strongly late in the day and signalling he could do much better in time. Alex Edwards is well worth his 5lb claim and he takes over the ride today so, with conditions to suit, he looks the likely winner.

1 MISTER DON – Consistent sort for Rose Dobbin who was second to an easy winner at Market Rasen, with the pair well clear of the third. His mark is due to be 2lbs higher so he’s well in here and the gap between races isn’t of much concern as he’s won off the back of a 12 day break in the past. Daragh Bourke takes the ride and 5lbs off his back, so he looks a major player and has to be respected.

2 COURT DISMISSED – The fitting of the visor has worked wonders for this Donald McCain recruit who has won both his starts since its fitting. He shrugged off a 5lb rise for his first victory when following up in good style, making all impressively despite idling late on. The handicapper has raised him a further 7lbs, but that is achievable as he’s clearly progressive at present and Lorcan Murtagh takes off 7lbs.

3 JACK SNIPE – Three wins from six starts over fences for this eight-year-old who won comfortably by 14 lengths on his latest start at Newton Abbot. The handicapper has refused to continue playing games with him though and slapped him with a 17lb rise which should be enough to stop him on his hat-trick bid here. 7lb claimer Robert Hawker retains the ride, but others make more appeal this time around.

4 WADE HARPER – Has placed on his last three starts for David Dennis, all of which coming under today’s rider Noel Fehily. He kept on well to finish second when last seen and a further pound in the handicap shouldn’t stop him running well again for the placings. Conditions will suit and, although he’s vulnerable for win purposes owing to his overall record, he should be on the premises.

5 DURSEY SOUND – Last win came at Hexham in September 2016 off a 10lb higher mark so he’s clearly well treated at his best. However, he’s been nowhere near that level this season. His second at Uttoxeter was a step in the right direction, but he failed to back that up on his latest start at Cartmel when a well beaten fourth and he’s only 1lb lower here. Conditions will suit, but others make far more appeal on this occasion.

6 DEADLY MOVE – Eight-year-old for the in form Peter Bowen team who is still a maiden after 14 rules runs, with seven of those coming over fences. He was last seen at Uttoxeter where he was four lengths behind Wade Harper and a turnaround with that rival doesn’t look likely under Sean Bowen. Possibly each way claims as he’s running consistently at present, but others make more appeal for win purposes.

7 BOLD DUKE – Running consistently well since being switched to fences by Edward Bevan, finishing second on his previous two starts. He looked very tired when approaching the last at Worcester on his latest start over the 2m 4f distance and his stamina would have to be questioned now that he’s upped to three miles. On his hurdling form he could still make a better chaser yet, but caution is best advised on this occasion with his stamina a big question mark.

8 DON FRANCO – Won a couple of Class 5 events over fences this season for the Crawford yard, with the latest of those coming at his latest start at Cartmel in July. He jumped poorly on that occasion and was still on top close to home, but more is needed now that he’s upped to Class 4 company. Andrew Lynch takes the ride and he’s an each way player, but he’ll need a stronger gallop and looks vulnerable for win purposes.

9 SHAIYZAR – Has finished second on three of his last four starts for David Thompson, finishing clear of the third on his latest at Stratford. He should be happier back up in trip, but he’s another who steps up in class and he needs further improvement if he’s to be taking this. He should be capable of better in time judging by his hurdling mark, however others make more appeal.

10 PACKETTOTHERAFTERS – Lightly raced eight-year-old for Gary Hanmer who shaped with promise on his handicap debut when last seen at Uttoxeter, keeping on well late on. He is certainly capable of better now he has that run under his belt and a further 1lb drop in the weights will do no harm. Alex Edwards is well worth his 5lb claim and, with conditions to suit, he looks set for a big run.

11 TRIBAL DANCE – Eleven-year-old who clearly isn’t relishing his racing anymore as he’s fallen far from grace, well beaten on all his runs since October 2015. He was last seen when tailed off at Stratford in a Class 5 event and he’s a long way out of the weights here for John O’Shea. Dismissed.
