The final race on Tuesday is a seven furlongs fillies handicap with a field of ten chasing a first prize of £3,234. Our runner by runner preview and expert tip can be found below.
IN SUMMARY: EXPRESS LADY looks well treated from this mark if the first time hood and tongue strap allow her to settle in the opening stages. Her debut win has been well franked since and she looks open to plenty of improvement. Totally Magic loves her racing at this track and although that has all been over further, she should still be right in the firing line. Halinka makes the frame on a regular basis while Lady In Question did the job nicely at Carlisle, she has a chance to follow up from a fair mark.
EXPRESS LADY – Beat a fair yardstick on her debut, far too keen to do herself justice when trying handicap company for the first time. She has a hood and tongue strap fitted now which should allow her to keep her energy for the closing stages. The horse she beat on debut is now rated 80, the pair coming seven lengths clear of the third who has won since as well. A mark of 73 looks more than fair on that run providing the headgear has the desired effect.
LADY IN QUESTION – Picked up a deserved win last time at Carlisle having finished runner-up on her previous two starts. A three pound rise for that isn’t harsh with plenty of solid handicapping form in the past but this is her first try on an artificial surface. If she acts under the new conditions, she has an each way chance.
CASTLE HILL CASSIE – Had produced a smart run of form before proving a little disappointing when last seen. She has form over this trip on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton so the conditions won’t be an issue for her but this is a stiff test at the trip and her very best has come at six furlongs, so needs a little more again as she climbs the weights.
WAHIBA – Winner over this trip at Yarmouth earlier in the season, both of her two best runs have come at that track, the level of form a fair way above anything she has achieved elsewhere. She has placed on the Polytrack but this will be her Tapeta debut with a little more needed after a short break if she is to score in this contest.
THE LACEMAKER – Yet to get her head in front but the best of her form came at the start of this season on the Polytrack at Lingfield. She hasn’t shown an awful lot since but the return to an artificial surface when fresh makes her of minor interest if the market speaks favourably for her.
HALINKA – Thirteen race maiden, she traded at 1/25 in running at Thirsk last time. She possibly hit the front a little early there, swamped in the closing stages by one from much further back. She has a number of near misses so it’s harder to make excuses for her now. The ability is there for her to pick up a race of this nature but she is more of an each way proposition.
TOTALLY MAGIC – Twice a winner in four visits to this track, she has been second and fourth on her other two visits. They have all been over a mile so this drop back in trip has to be a bit of a concern but the cheekpieces that were missing last time are back on which could keep her sharp enough to get herself into the mix once more.
CONQUERESS – Yet to run on the sand but she drops back to seven furlongs (the trip she has won over) having been competing over a mile of late. She may not get things all her own way on the front end which is a slight concern but the form she has shown over this trip suggests that a mark of 66 is perfectly workable.
OUTFOX – Produced a career best in mid August when a close runner-up over this trip on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton. She produced an abject display when last seen but the move back to this surface should see her in a better light. That was only a Class 6 though and perhaps that is more her grade, this is a far stronger event.
BUSH BEAUTY – Six lengths behind Lady In Question last time out, but while that filly is yet to run on this surface, Bush Beauty is a multiple winner on Tapeta at Wolverhampton. It’s nearly two years since she landed the latest of them but she is very well treated if she is able to get close to that kind of form once more.
