Our race preview takes a look at the lucky last at Windsor on Monday night. See our betting tips below to uncover a Mare on her seasonal reappearence who could be the value against a most likely short priced favourite.

IN SUMMARY: Ickymasho has won 4 out of her last 7 races and seems to be able to hit the frame however the race is run, so she certainly will be there or thereabouts. However it may well be worth chancing it with STARLIT CANTATA. Eve Johnson Houghton’s horses are in great nick at the moment and Starlit Cantana has been running in higher grades than this on the All Weather, and she hasn’t disgraced herself on previous turf runs either. Although this is her seasonal debut, she won on reappearance last year and she could well be the answer to this race.

1 ICKYMASHO – Has won 4 out of her last seven starts, latest when winning and 4l clear of subsequent Windsor winner Pink Ribbon. Clearly in very good spirits and could well prove to good for this field, however her turf record doesn’t inspire much confidence. Although winning last time out at Lingfield (10f, Good to Firm) proves she is effective on the grass, as does her 2nd the time before at Brighton (10f, Good to Firm), all her turf runs before that didn’t exactly set the world alight. She will most likely be favourite and warrants respect, but backing her at most likely short price comes with risks attached.

2 COILLTE CAILIN – Has been on fire as of late on the all weather, with 4 placings and 2 wins to her name in her last 6 starts on that surface. Clearly in great nick and her mark probably isn’t beyond her on turf, but she needs to prove she is effective. She is yet to win on turf and rarely places, but would certainly be dangerous to discount if managing to fire on this surface back in trip/grade.

3 STARLIT CANTATA – All wins thus far have been on the All Weather, but she is still just as effective on turf. On the all-weather she has been running in much higher grades, which probably explains a sub-standard last three runs. Although this is her seasonal reappearance, that doesn’t worry us too much as she won on reappearance last year and runs for the currently inform Eve Johnston Houghton yard. If firing on her reappearance she could well be the answer to this race.

4 SAHARA – Only is 1-11 but has to be respected off the back of some good efforts, latest when a very close 2nd at Yarmouth (9f, Good to Firm) off of a steady pace. Has a good chance off of this current mark but always seems to just come up short in recent times, need to step up today back in Class 4 company.

5 YORKINDRED SPIRIT – Disappointing run latest when 5th at Chester (10.5f, Good). Is on a winnable mark however and the champion jockey steps up today, but has definite risks attached and I suspect a career best will be needed to win this.

6 SOLVEIG’S SONG – Handicapper seems to have taken a hold now, with form slowly regressing, latest when last at Brighton (10f, Good). Seems that she will need a career to take this, but passed over for now until the handicapper starts to relent.
