IN SUMMARY: ACRUX would have gone very close here two runs back over seven furlongs, not able to get a clear run until too late in the day. A better run through in this race – which should be run to suit him – can see him off the mark. First time blinkers and tongue strap could help Madrinho tap back into this best form on his first start for John Butler while Rock Warbler runs his best races at this track. Deansgate wasn’t far behind Rock Warbler and Acrux last time, he should be in the mix.
ROCK WARBLER – All four career wins have come at this track, twice over this trip. He has a career high mark to cope with now but the full field should allow him to travel covered up off a solid pace so he needs each way consideration.
EL PRINCIPE – Yet to win on synthetics, he has at least run well each time. Been in consistent form this season but having the hood removed that he has run all his best races in is a significant concern.
DANDYS DENOUEMENT – Runner-up both starts at this trip, he makes his Tapeta debut here. Entitled to come on for his last run – his first run after three months off – he is unexposed and should prove capable of better than this in time.
ALPINE DREAM – Placed twice from higher marks this summer, she is yet to win in eleven starts when her mark has gone above 70. This will be her debut on synthetics but this is at least her trip.
MADRINHO – On his fourth trainer of 2017, he has shown a couple of bits of form this season. Has both blinkers and a tongue strap on for the first time here, very well treated at his best on his debut for John Butler. Interesting to watch the market.
INTERLINK – Form on sand better than on turf, he placed on his only start at this track. Each way chance if at his best for a new trainer, though she has been scuffling for form the last couple of months.
ACRUX – Smart form on the Tapeta, he was desperately unlucky here two starts back when not having a clear path until it was too late. This trip generates the strong pace that he needs to challenge late off, he can deservedly get win his first handicap.
DEANSGATE – Half a length behind Acrux last time out, that rival had a more troubled passage through. After twenty races he shapes as if there is more to come, though there will need to be if he is to do win this.
GLORIOUS ROCKET – Became disappointing for Luca Cumani, his new yard haven’t’ found the key to him yet. Has a first time eye-shield fitted, but best form has come at six furlongs. Needs a little more.
EQUIANO SPRINGS – Belatedly off the mark when justifying short odds in a Beverley maiden. Hasn’t really progressed with experience and has been beaten a long way the twice he has tried handicap company.
ALFIE’S ANGEL – Best form – including both wins – has come at six furlongs. Shown little the last twice when trying this surface so needs first time cheekpieces to work the oracle to get him into the mix.
MAJDOOL – Two years since his sole handicap win, has slipped sixteen pounds since. Shaped well over a mile here last time when not quite getting home, the drop to this trip should suit, has a chance if able to build off that performance.
PRINCE OF TIME – Best form has come on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton, including a pair of wins at this trip. Improvement has hit a wall since the spring, beating just three home in his last three starts combined. That leaves his with plenty to prove at present.
TAGUR – Heavy ground and a career low mark saw him off the mark at Carlisle last month. Sound form on synthetics last October, outside squeak if recent win has helped his confidence.
