7.30pm Dundalk Tips & Betting Preview 18/11/2016

The 7:30 on Dundalk’s card is a hugely competitive affair where a case can be made for nearly every horse on display. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: A wide open affair where many have chances, including Jaqen H’Ghar who has been running well on turf lately and finished 2nd here earlier in his career so the surface shouldn’t be an issue. Ringside Humour also likes it here and has to be respected but the vote is for POLITICAL POLICY. An 8 time winner at Dundalk, Cromwell’s charge usually saves his best for the course and has won over this distance in the past. He ran well for a long way latest over a trip that really stretched his stamina here and should go well once again at his favoured Dundalk.

1 POLITICAL POLICY – 8 time course winner who ran well latest here over a trip that really stretched his stamina back in October (1m4f, Standard). Was off 2lb higher that time and is almost certain to run a big race at his beloved Dundalk back at a trip that is more suitable for him.

2 RINGSIDE HUMOUR – Runs well here at Dundalk usually, as evidenced by a good second back in September (1m2f, Standard), although she then ran very poorly over the same C&D a week later. Is quite tricky to win with but has definite place possibilities.

3 STRONGER THAN ME – Running okay on turf lately, latest when 7th of 10 in a listed race at Leopardstown back in October (1m2f, Yielding). Has won here in the past, the latest of which back in November 2015, beating Ringside Humour (1m2f, Standard). Hard to discount and should be in the fight for placings.

4 POITIN – Running well of late placing twice at this venue, most recently when a very close 3rd at the start of the month (1m4f, Standard), beaten by My Direction. Should reverse placings with that rival and has place chances, but would probably prefer further nowadays.

5 JAQEN H’GHAR – Running well on turf of late, latest of which when 5th of 22 at Leopardstown back in October (1m2f, Yielding). 3yo has lots of potential for Joseph O’Brien and handles the track as evidenced by a 2nd over much shorter here back in October 2015 (7f, Standard). Hugely respected.

6 LUSIS NATUREA – Been in the handicappers grip for a while now but slowly creeping down once again, which gives him a chance. Others have more pressing claims however and are preferred.

7 MY DIRECTION – Up 5lb for another victory which came here over further at the start of the month, beating Poitin (1m4f, Standard). Should be there or thereabouts as hes placed or won his last 7 races, so has to be respected.

8 KALANN – A long way behind My Direction latest over 1m4f and needs to step up to a huge degree to play a role here. Probably needs further than this too be able to do so, so look elsewhere.

9 DRAGON FEI – 2nd last latest when very poor at Leopardstown in October (1m2f, Yielding). Others have much, much more pressing claims so look elsewhere.

10 SHARJAH – Will ensure a good gallop is set from the front, but will need a very soft lead to be able to stay with that pace till the end. That’s quite unlikely to happen however and probably one of the more unlikely winners tonight.

11 RUMMAGING – Ran well to a point when 6th over a mile here last month, and will much happier back up to 1m2f, as he stayed it well the two previous times he attempted it here earlier in the year. Career low mark today and has to have place claims.

myracing Forecast Prices: 2/1 Jaqen H’Ghar, 3/1 My Direction, 5/1 Political Party, 11/2 Poitin, 8/1 Ringside Humour, 10/1 Rummaging, 11/1 Stronger Than Me, 12/1 Lusis Naturea, 14/1 Dragon Fei, 16/1 Sharjah, 40/1 Kalann
