A field of 8 go to post in this Class 5 handicap raced over 1m 4f. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: PACOFILHA stayed on to good effect over ten furlongs at Brighton last time out, the step up to this mile and a half trip could be the making of her. She is reunited with Luke Morris for whom she ran her best race on turf so gets the vote to get her head in front. Kerrera looks her biggest danger, a wide margin winner at Newmarket last time, she should have plenty more improvement in the tank. Miss Liguria is another to consider, she smacks as a stayer of the future but can make her presence felt at this trip now she moves into handicap company.
AUNTIE BARBER – Remains 2lbs higher than her last winning mark which came in a Class 5 Wolverhampton handicap over an extended 1m 1f trip earlier this season. She was beaten a long way in a first-time hood at Chelmsford last time out and she has some serious questions to answer in this on the back of some heavy defeats. The market should guide best today on the back of some poor form.
KERRERA – Took a positive step forward to win a Class 5 Newmarket handicap last time out to win by 3 1/2 lengths. She’s been raised 8lbs for that success which looks reasonable for the margin of victory and she remains unexposed at this trip. The switch to the All-Weather should suit and there’s more to come from Paul Webber’s filly. Stall 3 is fine and Fran Berry keeps the partnership intact today.
MISS LIGURIA – Makes her handicap debut today off a mark of 70 which looks like a fair mark following a couple of placed efforts last month. She finished third of 14 over C&D at a big price in a maiden and she should go well today with Jamie Spencer booked to ride. This daughter of Galileo may want even further than this in time but it would be disappointing if she couldn’t get closer today.
RAINBOW RISING – Finished 3/4 of a length behind a well-handicapped sort at Lingfield last time out and an opening mark of 69 appears reasonable. She has improved with every start this season although more progression will be needed today stepped up in trip against some decent enough sorts in a Class 5 handicap. The stable have sent out one winner from their last 9 runners and she’s worth a second look in the betting.
PACOFILHA – Has been consistent this season without being able to get her head in front. She caught the eye staying on well at Brighton last week over ten furlongs, suggesting that the step up to this trip might allow her to pick up her first win. She gets on well with Luke Morris, placing twice under him on the turf, reunited with Morris on the all weather can reap dividends here.
ISLAND AUTHORITY – Eugene Stanford owns and trains this filly and she’s been off the track for over 2 years. She was beaten a long way in three maidens and a handicap and she’s impossible to make a case for here off a long break. She’s likely to need the run and should start a big price. However, any market support would have to be taken as significant.
TAPDANCEALLTHEWAY – Finished 6 lengths behind Kerrera at Newmarket last time out and she’s weighted to get much closer to that rival today. This longer trip on the All-Weather will certainly suit her now switched to handicaps and a mark of 67 shouldn’t be far away from what she’s capable of scoring off. Stall 5 is fine and Steve Drowne remains in the saddle. Worth plenty of respect and market support would be a very positive sign for this well-bred daughter of Nathaniel.
MOONLIGHT SILVER – 7-race maiden who has slipped another 3lbs in the weights following a 31-length defeat in a Class 6 handicap at Ffos Las. She arrives here in no sort of form and her All-Weather performances have also been substandard including at Kempton over this trip. She can only be watched today in a stronger race and may be one for weaker handicaps down the line.
