IN SUMMARY: TOP BOY has dropped down the weights to a very tempting level this season, with the majority of his best form coming at this track. Early support for him in the market from an early 14/1 only makes him more interesting. Super Julius ran well at Sandown in a deeper contest, not quite getting home on that stiff track, this easier test at the trip will suit. Aleef was runner-up here from eight pounds higher to end his 2016 campaign, that makes him a big player if able to get back to that form, while Saved My Bacon always runs well here in a race with plenty of pace on up front.
GENTLEMEN – Hasn’t got his head in front since June 2016, the best of his form has come over six furlongs. Worked his way back down to a winnable mark but has only beaten one home in his last two starts combined so tough to recommend at present.
TYLERY WONDER – Yet to show the same level of form on synthetics as he has on turf yet his mark is the same. Inconsistent this season, he needs to produce his best form on sand to land this.
DYNAMO WALT – Just a pound higher than when winning over this course and distance in June. Not seen since May, he drops back into a Class 4, would have an each way chance if he is ripe first time back.
SUPER JULIUS – Impressive winner at Wolverhampton on his sole start on sand. Runner-up in a deeper contest than this in September, he will appreciate the return to an easier track at this trip. Each way shout on Polytrack debut.
ALEEF – Runner-up from eight pounds higher in a better race over course and distance to end 2016. He has struggled badly in four starts this season which has left him very well treated if able to find that vein of form.
GORGEOUS NOORA – Disappointing on turf, she has shown solid form so far on sand. She disappointed in her finishing effort having been keen at this trip last time out, she needs to settle better if she is to fulfil her potential.
MENELIK – Hit hard for a pair of comfortable wins in March. Form at Lingfield is a little better than his efforts here, a visor is put back on now to replace the blinkers he has worn of late. Needs a little more if he is to get involved.
TOP BOY – Inconsistent this season, he has sunk to his lowest mark since a course and distance win in August 2016. All six career wins have come at this trip including three here, he is a hugely interesting player under ideal conditions.
SAVED MY BACON – Six of her eight career wins have come over this course and distance, though primarily at a lower level. Needs things to drop perfectly for her with a come from behind style, can compromise her chance with slow starts.
YOU’RE COOL – Back on the winning trail over course and distance last time in a Class 5. 0/11 when his handicap mark has been 72 or higher, his current perch of 75 is a career high, looks in the handicappers grip.
PENNY DREADFUL – Just 1/22 on the sand, that win coming over six furlongs here from three pounds lower. That was arguably the best run of her career – coming in September 2015 – so looks to have a uphill battle to get involved.
