7.10pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 14/06/2017

This is a Class 5 maiden over 1m 4f, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: It should pay to stick with the market leaders in this and PARK PADDOCKS gets the vote to come out on top. William Haggas’ 200,000GNS son of Sea The Stars is progressing with every run and he can win this now eased slightly in grade. Uptown Funk and Forever Song should give him the most to think about given they’ve both got good pedigrees and should continue to improve with more racing.

1 ACT SWIFTLY – Stan Moore’s runner has been well-beaten in two maiden starts to date and he is up against it here. He’s looked short of pace over only slightly shorter trips than this and that’s surprising given he’s by Requinto who has produced some speedy progeny. He’s one for handicaps further down the line and is opposed today.

2 BULDAN – 375,000GNS purchase as a yearling and Sir Michael Stoute’s runner has been disappointing in two runs to date. He’s been beaten 13 1/2 and 16 lengths respectively in two Newmarket maidens and he’s stepped up again in trip today and switched to a slightly easier race. He may improve today but rates as a risky prospect on his form to date.

3 CAPE COAST – Cheap purchase costing just 16,000GNS but he showed some ability in a lowly Newcastle maiden over 1m 2f earlier this month. He will improve plenty for that and this trip is probably as far as he wants to go given he’s by Cape Cross. The yard are operating at a fair 15% strike rate at present and there’s every chance he can get involved today with Harry Bentley on board.

4 FLOODED – 4,000GNS purchase out of an unraced mare. This trip looks far enough for this son of Archipenko and all the signs point to a modest run on debut and it’s difficult to see him winning today. He’s ridden by the useful Raymond Dawson and he should improve for this run wearing a hood on debut. Others make more appeal for a yard without a winner from their last 9 runners.

5 FOREVER SONG – Well-bred sort by Dubawi out of a classy mare that won a Listed contest and two Group 2 contests. He’s got bags of stamina in his pedigree and it’s no surprise to see him stepped up again in trip following a less than impressive debut when sent off the 7/4 joint-favourite. He should improve for that but obviously needs to do more. The yard have a 39% strike rate in the past fortnight.

6 ILEY BOY – Finished tenth of 12, beaten 30 lengths on racecourse debut at Lingfield last month. He takes a tiny step up in trip today but this son of Delegator is going to need much more time and handicap company to be seen to best effect. The yard are without a winner from their last 11 runners and others make far more appeal. Would be a seriously surprising winner of this.

7 MARINE ONE – Well-bred sort who hasn’t been that impressive in two career starts. This son of Frankel ran a nice enough race on debut but that wasn’t the strongest of races and he went backwards in a Newmarket maiden next time out. He’s stepped up in trip today which is surprising given Frankel progeny haven’t been seen to great effect over further and others make more appeal.

8 MASTER ARCHER – Most experienced runner in today’s field and James Fanshawe’s runner is eligible for handicaps. He has a rating of 77 which sets a fair level and he was only beaten 3 1/2 lengths in a Class 4 handicap last time out. The step up in trip will definitely suit and he sets a fair level in this although stall 11 isn’t ideal and Tom Queally will need to settle him well.

9 PARK PADDOCKS – Cost an impressive 200,000GNS as a yearling and he’s not transferred his promising profile from paper onto the racetrack as of yet. This son of Sea The Stars steps up in trip again today and this is a slightly weaker race than his last start so there’s every chance he improves again for a yard with a 25% strike rate in the past fortnight. One of the likely winners and one to keep onside.

10 PETITIONER – Half-brother to a nice sort and he ran a fine race on debut to finish third of ten over 1m 4f. He had no chance with a couple that pulled well-clear and he was green that day so there’s every chance he steps up on that form having been given a nice bit of time to improve since that run. The yard aren’t in blistering form but he would be of interest with market support.

11 QAVIY CASH – Was found out in a decent maiden at Newbury in May which saw him finish seventh of eighteen, beaten 18 lengths. This is a much weaker contest and he should improve for the step up in trip given he’s by Oasis Dream and his dam’s sire is Sadler’s Wells. One of interest with market support and the yard’s form is finally beginning to improve (3 winners from their last 13 runners).

12 UPTOWN FUNK – Well-bred son of Galileo and he should improve for his recent seasonal reappearance at Nottingham. He had no chance with a nice winner that day and he should come on again for the extra distance he faces today for a yard in good form of late (22% strike rate in the past fortnight). Frankie Dettori is on board and he is likely to attract strong support. Respected.

13 ASTROSHADOW – Has only managed to beat one horse home from her last 15 opponents. She’s been beaten a total of 96 lengths across two starts and with SP’s of 50/1 and 100/1, it’s easy to see why she’s going to start a big price today. She will be better suited to handicaps and is impossible to back today for a yard without a winner from their last 9 runners.

14 STYLISH DANCER – Ran a fine race on debut in a decent Ascot maiden last month. She should improve a bundle for that run and she’s a nicely-bred sort by Nathaniel out of a mare that won on her racecourse debut over a mile. The yard have been in red hot form of late with five winners from their last 14 runners (36% strike rate) and she would be of interest with market support. Strongly respected.
