7.00pm Worcester Tips & Betting Preview 17/08/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a staying handicap hurdle at Worcester. See our betting tips below to see which horse might last it out and pass the post in front.

IN SUMMARY: Letbeso bounced back to form latest and could be dangerous if getting a more patient ride today. Listen And Learn was running well before refusing to leave the paddock latest so has risks attached and therefore it may well be worth siding with SINAKAR. He has taken well to hurdles and on his first run for Kerry Lee’s yard he was a very good second upped to todays trip, and with more solid jumping he could well be the answer.

1 PERSPICASE – Has won twice over shorter distances, most recently at this venue in May (20f, Good to Firm). Hasn’t been anywhere near that since then, posting 3 dismal efforts at minimum distances, and will need the extra distance to perk him up, but pedigree/previous runs suggest he could struggle to get there.

2 LISTEN AND LEARN – Has been in good spirits last twice, latest when a good 3rd in a big field handicap at Newton Abbott over a few furlongs extra. Played up in the paddock latest and refused to leave it on his intended latest run and it is suspected he’ll need an extra few furlongs to show his true running.

3 DECIMUS – Is 2lb higher than his last win, which came over 3m 2f at Newton Abbott last July. Very mediocre form this year until showing a bit more to finish a closish 2nd at Newton Abbot latest (26.5f, Good to Firm). Eachway claims if going forward from that, but not exactly a reliable type.

4 THEATRE GOER – Has been pretty consistent in staying handicaps but hit a blip over C&D latest when not showing a great deal. Needs to find a spark from somewhere as even that consistent form isn’t good enough to take this.

5 LETBESO – Won over 2m 6f at Cartmel latest when looking like he’d put it to bed after the 2nd last, but weakened badly on the run in and was nearly grabbed after leading over the final fence by 5 lengths. Quite possible he did too much too early as he’s won over further in the past. Bowen’s yard isn’t exactly going great in recent times, but no surprise to see him run very well.

6 DECIDING MOMENT – Been mainly a chaser but is effective over fences, latest when winning over C&D in a Novices event in May. Competes in his first handicap and hard to really gauge what he achieved in those novice events, could be vulnerable here.

7 SINAKAR – Has taken to hurdles very nicely after winning once on the flat, latest when a good 2nd when upped 3.5f to this distance at Uttoxeter (23.5f, Good). Only his 2nd hurdle start and made a few mistakes, and if ironing those mistakes out he could well be very dangerous.

8 SKYLANDER – Has never won at a distance past 2m 5f, and was disappointing latest over C&D. After being held up he moved smoothly into the lead at 3f, was given the hurry up towards and over the last fence and folded up very very tamely, ending up 11 lengths behind the eventual winner. Hard to trust he gets this distance well.

myracing Forecast Prices: 3/1 Sinakar, 4/1 Letbeso, 11/2 Listen and Learn, 11/2 Skylander, 7/1 Decimus, 8/1 Deciding Moment, 9/1 Perpicace, 12/1 Theatre Goer
