6.55pm Kempton tips for Wednesday’s Class 4 race. Just under £4,700 on offer to the winner of this two mile handicap, a solid looking contest on paper. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: KING CALYPSO drops in grade tonight and is just two pounds higher than for a course and distance win earlier in the season. He’s been running well in better company of late and looks the one to beat here for Denis Coakley. Innoko is tough to support from a win point of view, but he has been running consistently this season and may make the frame.
1 POYLE THOMAS – Formerly progressive stayer, he has shown little in three runs this season on his return from a long break. This is comfortably the easiest of his assignments and does act on Polytrack, but still lots to be taken on trust to support him.
2 SHADES OF SILVER – Similar profile to Poyle Thomas, struggling this season having been progressive in previous years. These conditions are perfect for him but would like to have seen more from him here two runs back.
3 KING CALYPSO – Winner over this course and distance from two pounds lower in May. Has a couple of solid efforts since at a higher level and looks the one to beat here dropped into this grade.
5 RAVENOUS – Not the easiest to win with, he hasn’t been placed in eight runs on the sand. Yet to prove his stamina fully for this trip, he beat just one home on his Kempton debut earlier this month. Holds no obvious claims to a frame place.
6 CAPTAIN NAVARRE – Just a single win from eighteen starts, but that did at least come here. Ran well enough on his first try at this trip at York earlier in the month, a first time visor is fitted here in a bid to squeeze a little more from him.
7 TETRADRACHM – Sliding down the handicap this season without threatening to get his head in front. Best runs this year have come on Tapeta, but he was still soundly beaten on that surface last time out. Needs a big jolt of improvement on his 2017 form.
8 BRACKEN BRAE – Consistent type on the All-Weather but yet to score above Class 5 level. She tends to save her best for Chelmsford, not running to her best in a sole visit here, tough to support.
9 CALVINIST – On his fourth different trainer of the year, he has sunk like a stone in the weights. Ran well fresh at Wolverhampton in February so a two month break since his last run is a positive but has joined a yard struggling for form themselves, best watched.
10 GOLLY MISS MOLLY – Twice a winner over this course and distance in 2017, she unseated her rider leaving the stalls on her hat-trick bid. All five of her wins have come at Class 6 level, going to need significantly more stepped up here.
11 INNOKO – November 2014 the last time he scored on synthetics, that coming off the same mark he finds himself now. Ran well over a similar trip at Bath earlier in the season so has an each way squeak but tough to consider him a likely winner.
12 DANGLYDONTASK – 0/11 on sand, he has struggled for form since winning at Bath in April. Stays well but this is a level above where he usually operates, easy enough to pass over back on Polytrack.
4 DENMEAD – No worse than second in three runs here, he won over this trip in June. Does his best work from the front which is often the place to be as two mile races are often falsely run on synthetics, holds the key hand if able to dominate once more.
