6.45pm Yarmouth Tips & Betting Preview 13/07/2016

The feature on Yarmouth’s Wednesday card is a good-quality 1m 2f handicap. Our horse-by-horse race preview identifies a value selection. Read on for the betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: It’s easy to make good cases for most of the runners in this good-quality handicap but, at the prices, the suggestion is NICEOFYOUTOTELLME, who hasn’t been disgraced on either start this season, despite the ground being slower than ideal in a warm handicap on the first occasion and tackling Group 3 company last time. He’s in calmer waters today, is back on a sound surface and has been given half a chance by the handicapper. Fallen For A Star was suited by a change of tactics when winning in good style on Tapeta last time but the handicapper has reacted quite sternly and a bigger threat to the selection may come from Spanish Squeeze, who was a bit disappointing on his seasonal debut but retains significant potential to progress. Darshini and Demonstration and both likely to be in the thick of things too.

1 Niceofyoutotellme – Probably wasn’t ideally suited by good to soft ground when down the field in valuable 1m1f handicap on seasonal debut at Newmarket in April but wasn’t beaten far there and subsequently ran about as well as could have been expected in a Sandown Group 3; in calmer waters here and been dropped to a workable mark; one to consider.

2 Spanish Squeeze – Yet to add to his 2yo maiden win and never threatened when midfield on seasonal debut at York (1m2f, good) in May; still has fairly low mileage, though, and can better the York performance if more settled in the early stages here.

3 Majeed – Won consecutive Polytrack starts in September (1m3f/1m2f) but wasn’t in the same form during three-race spell in Dubai in early 2016; returns from 160-day break on fairly tough mark and has 0-6 strike-rate on turf; others have more pressing claims.

4 New Year’s Night – 3-9 on the AW before going very close on turf debut at Ascot (1m4f, good) in May 2015, where he finished strongly; could easily have more to offer as a 5yo but this will be his first start for 431 days and the drop back in trip may not be ideal.

5 Fallen For A Star – Has gained both wins on Tapeta, the more recent when switched to patient tactics at Newcastle (1m2f) last month; got the job done in good style that day but is 7lb higher in a stronger race here and needs to prove he can run to the same level on turf.

6 Darshini – Comfortably held on first two starts this year but, with cheekpieces removed, posted a sound effort when second at Pontefract (1m2f, good to firm) last month; needs to find something extra to get his head in front again but probably won’t be far away.

7 Demonstration – Made all on consecutive starts over 9.4f on Tapeta at Wolverhampton in the autumn and has also hit the target on turf this year, at Haydock (1m2f, good to firm) last month; had to settle for third off today’s career-high mark at Kempton (1m3f, AW) last time but ought to make another bold bid from the front.

myracing Forecast Prices: 11/4 Spanish Squeeze, 3/1 Fallen For A Star, 6/1 New Year’s Night, Darshini, Demonstration, 7/1 Niceofyoutotellme, 10/1 Majeed
