Plenty of unknowns go to post in this although a few nice horses should reveal themselves for the coming year. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: Getna and Wild Shot both showed plenty of zip on debut and they are the best of those with experience. They should give it a good go knowing more this time. Flaming Marvel also showed a decent level of form on debut and should go well for his in-form yard but none of these are bomb-proof and it may be left to the newcomer BOIS DE BOULOGNE who has a smart pedigree, and hails from a yard who have made a wonderful start to the AW season. He can score if ready to go on debut and wouldn’t need to be anything special to get off the mark here.
Big Sigh – Once-raced Colt by Raven’s Pass who was 33/1 on debut at Newmarket 71 days ago and only managed seventh of 10 that day, well beaten. Up in trip today and best watched for now.
Bois De Boulogne – Street Cry Colt who is a half-brother 3 winners including the smart 6f/7f winner Swooning and 12.5f winner Emancipation. Full Brother to 2-y-o 8.6f winner Disobedience. Market will guide as to expectations on debut and top yard can ready one first time out. Player.
Daily Trader – Previously trained by John Gosden and only two runs so far. Was 100/1 having his first run for this yard here over this trip two weeks ago and could only manage eighth of 11. Hard to fancy in this line-up with plenty of likely pace around.
Dream Magic – Lord Shanakill Gelding who cost only 2,200 Euros as a yearling and 6,500 as a 2-y-o. Dam was a lightly-raced half-sister to the useful 1 1/4m winner Rebellious Guest.
Flaming Marvel – Was a good second on debut at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago, staying on well to get to within ¾ of a length of the well supported Goldolphin favourite. Yard remains in good form and open to plenty of progress. Big player in this line-up.
Hochfield – Showed plenty of pace on his last run when second here 13 days ago. That was a vast improvement from his debut run here 8 days prior and there should be more progress to come although he may be vulnerable to an improver.
Khattar – Frankel Gelding who was last of 6 in a Maiden at Brighton 60 days ago and looks up against it in this despite his illustrious pedigree. Wears Blinkers for the first time today and will need them to work to get anywhere near some of these today.
Wild Shot – So You Think Gelding who has had 3 runs so far. Second of 11 in a Maiden here 22 days ago when no match for the winner. That was a decent enough and should continue to improve. Solid each-way claims.
William Booth – Born To Sea Gelding who cost 10,000gns as a yearling and 22,000 Euros as a 2-y-o. Half-brother to a few winners too including 1½ m winner Jersey Bull and 1m-1½ m winner Cesare. Dam was a smart 5f winner who stayed 1m. Interesting pedigree and should come on for the run so best watched for now.
Champagne Reign – Casamento Filly who has had two runs so far. Only eleventh of 14 in a Maiden at Kempton 31 days ago when 125/1. Impossible to fancy here chances in this.
Getna – Showed plenty of promise on debut finishing second of 10 in a Maiden at Lingfield 37 days ago. That was a good debut and up in trip today. Open to plenty of progress and player.
Lucrezia – Nathaniel Filly who has had two races so far. Has disappointed so far in both of those including a seventh of 14 in a Maiden at Chelmsford 23 days ago when hampered badly. Has a visor on for the first time today and should progress but others more persuasive on this occasion.
Whatelseaboutyou – Filly by Canford Cliffs who has had one race so far that yielded a sixth placed finish from 15 runners at Bellewstown 101 days ago. Well beaten that day having first run for Richard Fahey since leaving David Wachman. Best watched for now and should come on for the run.
