6.15pm Chelmsford tips for Thursday’s Class 4 race. An exciting race is likely with several big yards represented with potentially useful two-year-olds. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: Ready preference is for John Gosden’s WEST PALM BEACH who made eye-catching late headway to finish third on debut at Kempton despite being detached in last early on. She will be much sharper for the run and Ryan Moore takes over, so her claims are obvious for all to see as she won’t need to improve much to take this. Expressiy was undone by softer ground on her latest start and heads up the dangers back into maidens, with Beautiful Memory another to keep an eye on.
1 EXPRESSIY – Improved on her debut to win a Newmarket Novice race in great style, winning easily and softer ground is a valid excuse for her Group 3 defeat at Chantilly when last seen. Her ready win on her second start sees her of interest though as she’s unexposed and has to be respected.
2 BEAUTIFUL MEMORY – Daughter of Invincible Spirit who has a very attractive pedigree, making a promising debut when third at Leicester. Any amount of improvement can be expected from her now and she’s a key player under Oisin Murphy.
3 BINT HUWAAR – Cost £1,000,000 as a yearling and made her debut at Windsor in August, running green and clearly needing the experience. She should improve significantly for that run, but she looks likely to need further experience and may be found wanting here.
4 CONNOISSEUR – Sent off at 100/1 odds on debut for Sir Mark Prescott and she ran accordingly, finishing a well beaten 11th. Her pedigree suggests that she will be a longer term prospect and others are readily preferred.
5 DRAGONFLY DREAM – Daughter of Sepoy who has plenty of stamina in her pedigree for John Best who isn’t known for his first-time out winners. This looks like a warm race and she’s best watched on this occasion.
6 FROLIC – Has placed on three of her four runs for Sir Mark Prescott, but she’s not been improving and her latest second came in a much weaker race than this. She looks hugely vulnerable against lesser exposed rivals.
7 GEETANJALI – Half-sister to two winners for Michael Bell and with any runners from his yard they need a market check. His runners also tend to improve for the run and this daughter of Roderic O’Connor is probably a longer term prospect.
8 LINE HOUSE – Only cost 2,200gns as a yearling, however she outran her 66/1 odds to finish third at Kempton ten days ago. She does need to build on that though and faces a much tougher task here, so can only be given each way claims.
9 MONTANA DAWN – Cost £38,000 as a two-year-old and she’s a half-sister to six winners for Bryan Smart. She’ll need to be smart to make a winning debut and, judging by her pedigree, she may need further in time.
10 MS TILLY – Tailed off on both her starts so far for David Brown, showing nothing on her latest appearance at Pontefract where she was outpaced from leaving the stalls. Impossible to recommend and needs to be avoided.
11 PERFECT THOUGHT – Daughter of Dawn Approach who cost 70,000gns as a yearling and has placed at the six furlong trip the last twice. She was one paced rather than running on when third at Yarmouth on her latest start and with an extra furlong she can only be given each way claims.
12 SPEED CRAFT – Showed very little in the context of this race on debut for James Eustace and she was a tailed off last at Newmarket two weeks ago. That was in the cheekpieces and she looks set for another struggle as the handicaps await.
13 WEST PALM BEACH – Daughter of Scat Daddy for John Gosden who cost 260,000gns as a yearling and made eye-catching late headway to finish third at Kempton in August. She is more than likely to improve for that and, with Ryan Moore taking over here, she looks very tough to beat.
