5.45pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 05/04/2017

This is a competitive contest at Kempton, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: The handicapper has only raised ALEMARATALYOUM 2lbs for his comfortable success at Newcastle and he can go in again here off a workable mark. Al Mansor is a clear danger for the Richard Hannon stable now 3lbs lower whilst Never Folding should do better now making her handicap debut off a nice mark.

1 ALEMARATALYOUM – Won with ease on handicap debut in a small 4-runner event last month. He still looked raw and green that day but he had to make the running and he was comfortably ahead at the finish. The form isn’t particularly strong but the handicapper has only raised him 2lbs for that success and there should definitely be more to come today in a Class 5. Trainer doesn’t have an excellent record here.

2 ARCTIC SEA – Handicap debut today and he’s got a lovely pedigree (by Oasis Dream) and has been well-supported in two starts to date over a mile and 7 furlongs. He makes his debut off 69 which should be a workable mark and he should do better now stepped back up in trip to a mile. The yard have an 11% strike rate here although they have been a little quiet of late. One of the likelier sorts.

3 ASHAZURI – Dick Turpin filly who progressed last time out and finished a 3 1/2 lengths third behind some average sorts. 69 looks relatively high for her handicap debut and her stable has a poor record here with only 3 winners from 98 runners (3% strike rate) which is slightly off-putting. Jim Crowley takes the ride (27% strike rate) in the last fortnight and she is best watched here.

4 AL MANSOR – Dark Angel colt who steps up in trip here to a mile having raced over sprint trips on his last four starts. On breeding he’ll enjoy this step up in trip and he did run with some credit at this track on just his second start late last year. The yard are really starting to come to form and he is 3lbs lower than his last handicap appearance which should see him to better effect. Frankie Dettori takes the ride and he could make a big step forward here. Respected.

5 PADDY A – Holy Roman Emperor gelding who should improve for a step up in trip having looked slightly outpaced over 7 furlongs. He makes his seasonal reappearance today following a winter break and he’s one of the less likely winners of this and is best watched here with a return to the turf imminent.

6 POWER POWER – Showed a bit more promise on his latest start having been gelded and returned off a winter break. He was 4 1/4 lengths behind some decent types in a hot maiden and it’ll be interesting to see how he does now entered into a handicap for the first time off a mark of 66. George Wood claims a valuable 5lbs here and the yard have had a few recent winners from 12 runners.

7 ARTHURTHEDELEGATOR – By Delegator so it’s no surprise to see him step up in trip here and he was victorious over 7 furlongs at Newcastle last December off a 2lb lower mark. He was given a prominent ride that day and just held on, showing an excellent attitude and it’ll be interesting to see how fit he is here off a break. Could be popular in the betting and this is only Oliver Greenall’s fourth ever runner at Kempton.

8 MALT TEASER – The yard do well with types just like this son of Muhtathir and he should progress for a step up in trip to today’s mile. He was beaten 2 lengths on his last start behind Mia Cara and a strict interpretation of that form gives him a little bit to find with Ed Dunlop’s runner. He’s still unexposed and should progress again but stall 11 makes life much tougher and others are favoured in this.

9 FAMOUS DYNASTY – 7% strike rate at Kempton for this yard and their runner here doesn’t appeal a great deal. He’s been comfortably held in handicap company off marks in the high 60’s and he’s only 2lbs lower than when last seen at Windsor last October. He’ll need to be race fit to win this today against some nice types and he’s probably one for handicaps back on the turf later this year.

10 NEVER FOLDING – Three runs to date and she did run with some promise on her first and second start when beaten by a couple of fair sorts. Her last run at Wolverhampton over an extended mile was disappointing but she was trapped out wide and perhaps found a few unexposed types too much to overcome. She’ll do better now handicapping and her overall profile suggests she’s better than this mark. Tongue strap applied for the first time today and the yard have sent out a winner from their last two runners. Respected.

11 THE SECRETS OUT – Hard task at the end of last year when racing off 65 in a Class 4 handicap. He couldn’t mount a challenge that day but will at least be better suited to today’s weaker grade and a step up in trip. There has been money about for him in the past and he’s not completely discounted now on a 5lb lower mark. He’s more likely to find success in a weaker grade and is best watched until then.
