5.20pm Hereford Tips & Betting Preview 06/10/2016

Our race preview takes a look at an intriguing Maiden Hurdle at Hereford which closes their card. Read on for the full race preview and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Some Kinda Lama‘s clear 2nd at Wetherby when last seen sets a clear form standard, and although it is a decent standard, its not insurmountable. Therefore ROUGE DEVILS is put forward as an alternative for Paul Nicholls and Sam Twinston-Davies. His gelding was only 7th in a bumper last October, but that was over an insufficient trip and he has won 2 point to points in the Spring for Jack Barber. Those wins were by an aggregate distance of 30l and therefore he could be a pretty useful staying prospect for Mr Nicholls.

1 BALMORAL PRINCE – Shown tiny bits of promise in some bumpers in June and July but has been beaten out of sight on all 3 of his hurdle runs and makes no appeal today.

2 BRAQUEUR D’OR – Comfortably held on both bumper efforts in the spring and needs the switch to hurdles to have a big impact to feature in this.

3 DAMBY’S STAR – Best effort on hurdles debut when a well beaten 5th at Uttoxeter back in May (2m3f, Good) and didn’t follow up with any promise when beaten out of sight at Fontwell in June (2m5f, Good). Has a lot to find even on that best effort so is up against it today.

4 ROUGE DEVILS – Nothing special on bumper debut at Chepstow last October (2m, Good), but that effort can be discounted as the trip was inadequate. Has subsequently won 2 points for Jack Barber in the spring by an aggregate distance of 30l and is very interesting back under rules. Should make a pretty decent staying prospect for Paul Nicholls and may well be good enough to win today.

5 SOME KINDA LAMA – Has the best rules form to offer by quite sum margin, with his latest Wetherby 2nd in May (3m, Good) being a very good performance in the context of this race. Yet to get his head in front in 4 starts so far though which could be seen as a concern, but Noel Fehily is a very good jockey booking. Can’t be discounted with any sort of confidence.

6 ONE FORTY SEVEN – Only one piece of Point to Point form to go by, but beat a subsequent duel bumper winner in said Irish Point back in May. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ yard is in good order and there is a lot to like about his pedigree, so has to be considered a big danger on rules debut.

myracing Forecast Prices: 11/10 Some Kinda Lama, 13/8 Rouge Devils, 2/1 One Forty Seven, 16/1 Damby’s Star, 33/1 Braqueuer D’Or, 100/1 Balmoral Prince
