5.15pm Newmarket Tips & Betting Preview 25/10/2017

5.15pm Newmarket tips for Wednesday’s Class 4 contest raced over 1m 1f for two year-olds. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: SIMPSON was unlucky not to win last time out having failed to get the gaps. The handicapper has underestimated that performance with only a 3lb rise and he can take full advantage today. Ship Of The Fen shouldn’t be far away following a good success last time out at Nottingham in a decent handicap and can follow the selection home.

1 LYNWOOD GOLD – Prominent runner and one of the pace angles in this. He’s run three solid races in four starts and he’s likely to give his running once again off a mark of 85 in a first-time handicap. This mark looks high enough though for what he’s achieved.

2 SIMPSON – Travelled all over the field at Windsor last time out and he wasn’t delivered at the right time, eventually finishing third. He’s been raised 3lbs for that effort and the handicapper may have underestimated that performance. Respected today.

3 SHIP OF THE FEN – Broke his maiden at the third attempt when stepped up in trip at Nottingham last time out. That was a solid effort off a mark of 75 and it’s no surprise to see him racing off a 6lb higher mark today. Ryan Moore is booked to ride and he should go close again.

4 SHAHEREZADA – Couldn’t quite get her head in-front at Windsor last time out, losing out by a neck. She’s been raised 4lbs for that effort which is fair and she should go well again having still looked slightly green that day. There’s every chance she’ll come on again.

5 BLOORIEDOTCOM – Posted his best effort to date on his last start when fourth of nine, beaten half a length at Brighton just over a fortnight ago. He’s going the right way and the step up in trip will suit him although his form isn’t the strongest and others make a bit more appeal.

6 CHEEKY RASCAL – Yet to break his maiden but he’s posted some rock solid performances including a head defeat to the useful Billesdon Brook back at Goodwood in August. A mark of 75 remains fair although it’s a negative to see Ryan Moore switch mounts to Ship Of The Fen.

7 REGULAR INCOME – Yard aren’t renowned for 2yo winners although their son of Fast Company is certainly improving. He did well last time out to finish third in a Class 4 novice stakes race at Salisbury and he starts his handicapping career off a mark of 74. That appears fair and he enters calculations.

8 GIFT OF HERA – Sylvester Kirk’s filly looks up against it today based on her form to date. She was comfortably held in a Class 5 novice stakes race at Salisbury last time out and a mark of 69 looks stiff enough on handicap debut. She could do with more time before being seen to best effect.

9 GOLD EAGLE – 6-race maiden who failed to break her losing streak at Wolverhampton last time out in a Class 6 event. This is significantly tougher off a 7lb higher mark and she can only be watched in this. The step up in trip again is a positive though.

10 BAJAN GOLD – Lope De Vega colt who has run to a solid level in four starts to date. He’s finished anywhere between 4 and 5 lengths behind the winner in all four races which is solid consistency but those efforts came in weaker races than this. Best watched today off a mark of 67 wearing a first-time tongue tie.
