5.10pm Wolverhampton Tips & Betting Preview 12/12/2016

The final race on Wolverhampton’s card is a mile handicap, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Both Caudeau Magnifique and SANDS CHORUS were beaten by Pikes Corner Cross last month in different races, but preference is for the latter James Given trained runner. He’s a front-runner who has been given the gift of Stall 2 and will be very hard to pass if getting to the rail first, which is very likely from that draw. The prior is respected however as he’s taken very well to the All Weather.

1 SANDS CHORUS – Front-runner who has been given Stall 2 which is a huge help. 2nd over C&D latest when just being gunned down in the final furlong, should go well again and has big claims.

2 STARFIELD – Very poor since June 2015 but did put one step in the right direction when 5th at Southwell over 7f. Still very hard to fancy and probably best watched.

3 EDGE OF HEAVEN – 2016 form has been very poor and impossible to fancy regardless of past exploits.

4 HOUSE OF COMMONS – Far from disgraced in several starts for Paul Cole and has joined Michael Appleby, so therefore monitoring the market for support is key. Will need to improve but can do so and is respected.

5 CADEAU MAGNIFIQUE – Runner up the last twice at Newcastle when switching to the All Weather and beaten by subsequent winners both times. Still has time on his side and is one of the more solid options for the race, so has to be respected.

6 JUMBO PRADO – C&D winner in three of his five starts this year, with the latest in plating company at the start of the month. Has to be respected as winning is hard to come by in this field and should run well under Adam Kirby who will be able to extract the maximum out of him.

7 IDOL DEPUTY – Only about a length behind Sands Chorus latest when very wide but running on well towards the finish over C&D last month. Is still on a handy mark but hasn’t been convincing on many starts this season and it is hard to trust he’ll back that effort up.

8 ESSENAITCH – Below par the last twice, latest in a plating race won by Jumbo Prado latest over C&D. Last win came in August 2015 and hasn’t convinced on many efforts since then and it’s hard to fancy him today.
