The penultimate race on Plumpton’s Monday card is a Handicap Hurdle over 2m. See our betting tips below in the full race preview.
IN SUMMARY: Crown Hill made a promising chase debut and followed up the day later when winning over hurdles, and has to be seriously respected. However, a lot of positives can be drawn from EMPTY THE TANK‘s chasing debut, he was giving lots of weight around and although he unseated Aspell, he seems well handicapped from his hurdles form and could take some pegging back. Chakisto is interesting on chasing debut and has to be considered for the inform Vaughan yard.
HONKYTONKTENNESSEE – Well beaten on only hurdles start this year at Huntingdon in March (2m, Soft). Makes chase debut after a 225 day absence and pedigree gives some hints that he could possibly make a chaser, but their are much safer options today.
CROWN HILL – Made a promising chase debut when 3rd of 5 at Perth (2m, Soft) when not beaten far. Turned out very quickly and won pretty easily a day later over hurdles at the same venue (2m4f, Soft). Should have a big part to play today if coming on for that chasing debut and has to enter calculations.
FLASHMAN – Won here over Hurdles back in November 2015 (2m, Good to Soft) but was poor on chasing debut when tailed off at Huntingdon at the start of the month (2m, Good). Should be capable of better but too risky to back.
NORSE LIGHT – Took a liking to chasing when a good 2nd on debut at Wincanton back in May (1m7f, Good to Firm). Didn’t go on from that however when a well beaten 6th at Towcester later that month (2m, Good to Firm). Has to enter calculations on the back of that debut.
BERRY DE CARJAC – Good chase debut when a close 4th at Worcester (2m4f, Good) and probably didn’t appreciate the step up in trip when pulled up at Perth later that month (2m7f, Good to Soft). Blinkers go on today and could be a player for the placings.
EMPTY THE TANK – Was making a pleasing chase debut at Plumpton before unseating at the final fence from 3rd place (2m3f, Good to Firm). Judged on his hurdle form, he seems quite well handicapped and this drop in trip wont hold on any fears. If deriving improvement from that chase debut, he could be hard to peg back today.
MR MEDIC – Comfortably held on all 5 hurdles starts thus far and makes chase debut today. May well fair better over fences, but there are much more solid options today.
CHAKISTO – Oldest in the field and has left it relatively late to go over fences, with a record of 1-31 under rules which the most inspiring. However, that one win came on his second start for the Vaughan yard at Uttoxeter latest (2m, Good to Soft) and is of interest on chasing debut.
REMEMBER FOREVER – Soundly beaten on both handicap hurdles he’s completed over much further trips (3m1f/2m5f) and makes his chase debut today. Not really shown much over hurdles and not considered today.
MICQUUS – A record of 0-15 under rules and only 3 of his 7 hurdles starts have been completed without pulling up. Not particularly shown much on all the efforts he’s completed and not considered a danger.
