IN SUMMARY: WILLIAM SAYLE readily won a maiden which has worked out well and he is potentially thrown in off a mark of 77. He should take all the beating, however Indian Chief and Storm Rock are also expected to go well.
INDIAN CHIEF – Has been progressing nicely this season and travelled powerfully through an above average course and distance event last time when just nabbed on the line. He is up three pounds, but a repeat of that run would give him a solid each way chance at least.
MAGIC CITY – Won a couple of races earlier in the season, however his current mark is looking slightly beyond him and the handicapper is yet to relent. There is the suspicion that he doesn’t quite get the ten furlong trip either and he can be overlooked.
FAITHFUL CREEK – Only beaten half a length two starts ago, but that has been well beaten on this mark or slightly lower a fair few times this season. He backs up quickly having run at Kempton just two days before this and others might be better handicapped.
ANGRY WHITE PYJAMAS – Won easily at Chelmsford earlier in the season but since that run has had the look of a horse who is in the grip of the handicapper. He has been beaten a combined 20 lengths in his last two starts and doesn’t jump off the page as one to back.
Ay Ay – Has been contesting some hot handicaps of late and hasn’t been completely disgraced. He is dropping down the weights despite remaining quite unexposed and the booking of Ryan Moore could be significant; a lively outsider.
WEALTH TAX – Won two handicaps earlier in the year, but was raised seven pounds as a result and he has turned in three rather disappointing efforts since. He will like the ground, however, and could go well at a price if putting his best foot forward.
GRAND INQUISITOR – Hasn’t won for a good while now, however his recent efforts have been more encouraging, including when a staying on fourth last time out. He is trying a new trip here and that shouldn’t do him any harm. One to consider.
HADEEQA – Ran a solid race when a close third in a hot contest at the Glorious Goodwood meeting, but she was disappointing on her latest start. She has an inconsistent profile overall, but clearly has the potential to run a big race in this type of company.
FAST AND HOT – Ran a string of good races from May to August, yet her last couple of runs have been less than inspiring. She remains on a manageable mark if showing her best, but comes here with questions to answer following two poor efforts.
ITALIAN HEIRESS – Won a decent enough looking maiden last time and the handicapper has left him on the same mark after that performance. There’s a possibility that was a lenient decision and he should have a solid each way chance.
STORM ROCK – Has certainly not been at his best this season, but has tumbled down the weights as a result. He reached a peak rating of 102 back in 2015 and runs off 74 here when taking Hollie Doyle’s claim into account; cannot be discounted lightly.
WILLIAM SAYLE – Won a maiden with the minimum of fuss by two lengths from a horse now rated 84. He has been gelded since and runs off 77 here and, if fully tuned up after a 197 day break, he would be exceptionally difficult to beat.
