4.50pm Uttoxeter Tips & Betting Preview 28/10/2016

The last race on the card at Uttoxeter is a mares handicap hurdle over 2m7f. We have a horse-by-horse race preview and our experts’ betting tips.

SUMMARY: Very Extravagant has won her last 2 races and is likely to be sent off favourite, and although up 6lb for her last win she has to enter calculations. We however side with the consistent BOOK AT BEDTIME who runs in a handicap for the first time off the workable mark of 104. The selection has yet to finish out of the frame and has looked like she needs this step up in distance on previous runs. Magic Money is well in at the weights with Very Extravagant so should be closer than when they faced off last time.

1 AUNTY ANN – Shoulders top weight in her handicap debut after two very respectable efforts over hurdles. Won by a margin of 12 lengths in the first of them and then was 2nd to a stylish winner at Newton Abbot. Won a point to point race at a similar distance to today’s so stamina shouldn’t be a problem. Still on the up and is respected.

2 VERY EXTRAVAGANT – Won her last two races, easily having the measure of Magic Money in the last of those two at Fontwell. Did that well though so the 6lb rise seems very fair (was going away at the line), has thrived since she has been stepped up to further and is a contender.

3 MAGIC MONEY – Well backed when going off favourite last time but didn’t deliver much of a performance, finishing in a distant 4th after looking laboured at the finish. Would likely prefer a bit more juice in the ground but was a good 2nd over the course & distance in July and could bounce back.

4 EARDISLAND – Was off the mark when landing a novice event at Exeter in March this year and has posted a few good runs since that. Raced over 2m5f (furthest yet) at Ludlow and was well beaten so this step up to just shy of 3 miles might be her downfall. 6th latest but weakened and long way behind winner.

5 BOOK AT BEDTIME – Had four National Hunt Flat runs before combating hurdles, winning one at Hexham and finishing in the top 3 in the rest. She has had two hurdle runs so far, the first at this course where she made some good from the back to finish 3rd (would of been closer for a better jump 2 out). The latest at Southwell where she kept going to finish a marginal 2nd. Looks the type that will relish this stamina test and is highly respected.

6 LILYWHITE GESTURE – Only 1 win from 20 starts so not one to rely on. Failed to beat a rival when sent off favourite at Ludlow latest when the ground was likely too fast. Dropped in the weights for that so could take advantage but we think she will find at least a few too good for her.

7 TAYLOR – Races off a mark of 98 having previously been as high as 115. Latest runs haven’t been anything to be too excited about however, unseating her jockey when badly hampered at Sedgefield on her last run. Beaten out of sight on the run before that so is likely best watched.
