4.50pm Lingfield Tips & Betting Preview 20/07/2016

Our race preview looks at a competitive handicap at Lingfield which will certainly provide a tight finish. Read our betting tips below to find out a horse who will relish a return to Lingfield who can return to winning ways.

IN SUMMARY: Pharaoh Jake comes into the race in good form on turf and clearly likes Lingfield so will go close. However preference is for QUALITY ART, who is a C&D and well relish the return to the AW. Still well treated off of this mark and will be bang there if put in a good position by Rob Hornby.

1 TEMPLE ROAD – Course and distance winner who has been out of sorts recently, but seems to like Lingfield and could be weighted well based on previous efforts. Has the inform George Baker on top but has some questions to answer.

2 PHAROAH JAKE – Has been in good form on turf, winning his penultimate start at Newbury (5f, Soft) and then 3rd latest at the same venue (5f, Good to Soft). Runs well at Lingfield and is a C&D winner, so will be thereabouts if keeping his form back on AW.

3 QUALITY ART – Running well on turf as of late, latest when midfield at Windsor (5f, Soft). Another C&D winner who will relish the return to the AW and will make a bold bid of an attractive mark for Simon Hodgson.

4 OUR LORD – Off the mark when winning at Brighton latest (5.5f, Good to Firm) and is just as effective on the AW, evidenced by a close 3rd here in April (5f, AW). Is on a handy mark and all signs point towards a big run under the guidance of Luke Morris.

5 ELAND ALLY – Very poor effort when last in the race won by Our Lord at Brighton in June (5.5f, Good to Firm). Has run okay at Wolverhampton but makes his polytrack debut clearly out of sorts, so is passed over for now.

6 FRANK THE BARBER – Not one to rely on in a finish and only seems to race at Wolverhampton recently. Has raced well there and hasn’t ran too badly in the past at Lingfield, but with a strike-rate of 1-27 it’s hard to make a case and looking at a place if he is on a running day.

7 DEER SONG – Will most likely be the pace angle and form isn’t exactly inspiring with no win in 19 races. Didn’t do too badly when 4th at Lingfield last month (5f, Good to Firm) and has done okay on AW in the past, but hard to seem him fighting out the finish with such a deplorable strike-rate.
