4.40pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 19/09/2016

12 runners have been declared for this competitive Class 3 handicap over 6f. Read our full race preview for our experts’ betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Cases can be made for a few of these but, at the prices, the most appealing option is ALQUBBAH, who has a point to prove after flopping on her latest outing in June but made a very bright start to the season and still has low mileage. Mustallib is another unexposed 3yo, who is generally progressive and turned out to be poorly drawn when a beaten favourite on his latest outing. Dougan won a Class 2 event over C&D in April and is likely to be suited by today’s return to Polytrack but a wide stall reduces his appeal. Seychelloise went close off today’s mark at Chelmsford recently but he has also been dealt a duff hand draw-wise.

1 Related – Unable to land a significant blow in the Portland at Doncaster recently but has been placed in a couple of valuable 6f turf handicaps this season and also ran well when second on Polytrack at Chelmsford two starts ago; drawn well, and can make his presence felt.

2 Shamshon – Has done all his winning over 5f and is yet fully to convince stamina-wise over 6f but was keeping on well in the closing stages when a very respectable eight over 5.5f in the Portland at Doncaster nine days ago and is proven on Polytrack.

3 Mustallib – Lightly raced 3yo who has won three of his six starts, one of them on Tapeta; had to settle for midfield finish when favourite at Ascot on latest outing but was drawn away from the main action there and remains one to be interested in; Polytrack debut today.

4 Muir Lodge – Ran on well for respectable fifth at Ffos Las (6f, good) last month and remains just 3lb higher than when scoring on seasonal debut at Ascot (6f, good to firm) in May; not seen on the AW since 2014, though, and wide draw no help; cheekpieces added; others preferred.

5 Dougan – Collected a decent prize over C&D in April and was subsequently placed in a couple of competitive turf handicaps; down the field on last three outings but was drawn on the wrong side at Ascot last time and could still have untapped potential back on Polytrack.

6 Highland Acclaim – Gained a narrow-margin success at Epsom (6f, good) last month but is not as good as he once was and looks vulnerable off current mark; respectable fifth in C&D maiden in September 2013 on sole previous AW start.

7 Alqubbah – Runner-up in big-field Doncaster handicap (6f, good to soft) on seasonal debut in April and was creditable third in Listed event at Nottingham (6f, good to firm) the following month; flopped when favourite for latest start in June but could still have some improvement to come; AW debut.

8 Seychelloise – Made excellent progress on the AW last autumn/winter, winning three times (6f-7f) along the way; disappointed when returning from break over 5f at Dundalk last month but quickly got back on track when close second at Chelmsford (6f) recently; runs off the same mark here but wide draw makes things awkward.

9 Cartmell Cleave – Not seen on the AW since winning a low-grade Wolverhampton nursery in October 2014; came from off the pace to score at Newmarket (6f, good) in July but got going too late at Ascot last time and is probably reliant on others setting a strong gallop.

10 Baddilini – Without a win since February 2015 and has looked out of sorts this summer; been dropped to a handy mark if refitted cheekpieces give him a lift but has some searching questions to answer.

11 Queen’s Pearl – In good hands and not yet fully exposed but yet to strike form after three starts this season; lost action when pulled up two starts ago, so that run can be overlooked, but she finished last of 14 on latest outing in July and it takes big leap of faith to support her after that.

12 Picture Dealer – Made low-key return from one-year absence when eighth of 12 at Chelmsford (6f) last month; entitled to have benefited from that outing and now just 1lb above his last winning mark but not getting any younger and others have less to prove.

myracing Forecast Prices: 7/2 Mustallib, 6/1 Seychelloise, 7/1 Shamshon, 8/1 Related, Dougan, 10/1 Alqubbah, 12/1 Highland Acclaim, Cartmell Cleave, Queen’s Pearl, 16/1 Muir Lodge, Picture Dealer, 33/1 Baddilini
