4.15pm Kelso Tips & Betting Preview 14/09/2016

Our race preview takes a look at the first race on the Wednesday Kelso card. See our betting tips below to find a new purchase for the McCain yard who can make a winning hurdle debut on his first English start.

IN SUMMARY: Theligny has finished runner up on both his hurdles runs so far, staying on well both times so this longer trip will help. However, DERINTOHER YANK showed a huge jolt of improvement when finishing 2nd of 20 in a Cork bumper and was bought by Donald McCain subsequently. That was a good run and if taking to hurdles he could be tough to beat given a nice little break before his hurdles bow.

1 DERINTOHER YANK – Two poor efforts in bumpers before finally coming good when running very well to finish 2nd of 20 in a Cork bumper in July (2m, Good). Was subsequently bought by Donald McCain and makes his English debut today in suitable conditions. If he takes well to hurdles he could be very hard to beat, and Will Kennedy is a good jockey booking up top to do the steering. Big chance.

2 GREXIT – Most exposed hurdler in the field and beginning to look very one paced when finishing out his races. He has placed 3 times though in 4 starts over these obstacles so can’t be discounted, but could be vulnerable to an improver or hardy battler.

3 PADS – 2nd bumper run was decent when a close 5th of 6 in a Perth where the entire field was separated by about 5 lengths (2m, Soft). First hurdle run was cut short when falling at the 4th fence at Perth (2m, Good) and is quickly turned around for today’s run. Probably best watched as he may well need this to gain back some confidence.

4 THELIGNY – 3 good runs thus far, first coming in a Exeter Bumper in December 2014 (1m5f, Good to Soft). That was followed by two 2nd places over hurdles, the latest of which when a staying on 2nd at Leicester last November (1m7f, Good to Soft). Seems to be improving steadily for each run and this trip will suit so he has to be feared for the inform Tim Vaughan yard with the champion booked.

5 GENTLEMAN JAMES – Has been well and truly beaten on both his hurdles starts to date over 2m’s and 2m4f’s. Can’t be recommended.

6 KALAHARRY – Well and truly beaten out of sight in both bumper runs for Katie Scott last season. Joined the Iain Jardine yard and would need the switch to hurdles to have an enormous effect to be involved in any way today.

myracing Forecast Prices: Evs Theligny, 3/1 Derintoher Yank, 5/1 Grexit, 9/1 Pads, 33/1 Kalaharry, 66/1 Gentleman James
