4.05pm Nottingham Tips & Betting Preview 18/10/2017

A prize of £15,563 has attracted a good quality field for this staying handicap. Read on betting expert analysis and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: MELINOE has been doing very little wrong lately for master trainer Sir Mark Prescott and should go well again here. The ultra-progressive Sepal will probably serve it up to her.

1 SEPAL – Has been in fantastic form of late and has the profile of a very progressive horse. Has risen 29 pounds while racking up a four timer and lost nothing in defeat when second last time; has to be respected and no surprise if she goes well again.

2 FIRE JET – One of many in this field that has a recent win to their name (just two starts ago). Won in game fashion that day and after struggling on ground a bit too soft last time can’t be ruled out now back on a sounder surface; considered.

3 RETURN ACE – Hasn’t raced in handicap company for four starts but won off a mark on 87 the last time she did. Runs off the same mark today and should find things much easier than her last few starts; has to be respected

4 STONEY BROKE – Has run two very good races in her most recent starts and the form of her last run in particular is working out well, with the second that day subsequently running well in a hot looking listed race at Yarmouth; one to note.

5 ST MARY’S – Won three starts ago, but seems to have been slightly anchored by the three pound rise she received for that success having been beaten over four lengths in her two latest starts. This is a hot looking race and others are preferred.

6 LANGLAUF – Won two races by narrow margins on the all weather earlier in the season, but has been comfortably beaten in both starts on turf back from a break. May well be a slightly better horse on the artificial surface and can be overlooked in this field.

7 MELINOE – Won nicely over this course and distance in August and has only been denied by a neck in her last two starts. She is a progressive sort who is in good heart and her trainer is excellent with these staying handicappers; shortlisted.

8 SILVER LINK – Has been third in each of her last three starts, including a defeat at odds-on and is probably a risky proposition with this trip not entirely guaranteed to suit; others have stronger credentials in this contest.

9 SATISFY – Won easily on her stable debut, but a six pound  rise seemed to blunt her progress when beaten the next twice. Should stay the trip and won’t mind the ground, but could find one or two of these too progressive.
