IN SUMMARY: With Tan a non-runner, preference is for Boogie Babe. She can do better at this intermediate trip having run over the minimum distance on four of her last five starts and having one of the most talented apprentices in the race on board is no bad thing either. Bold Spirit should be in the mix once more with Danish Duke worth watching in the market from an attractive mark.
2 DANISH DUKE – Has dropped back to a very winnable mark having been below par of late. The step back down to six furlongs should be in his favour with deep ground no issue. Would like to have seen more of late to support him however.
3 UNCLE CHARLIE – Running to a consistent level all season, just lacking a cutting edge. Connections add a first time tongue strap, if that is the spark that he has been looking for, he has an each way chance, but very soft ground is a concern.
5 AWESOME ALLAN – Appreciated the drop from seven furlongs when runner-up the last twice over five. His best form by a considerable margin has all come over that minimum test, needs to step forward back up in trip.
6 BOLD SPIRIT – Consistent since the end of August, including on soft ground last time. His mark has continued to creep up but has been placed from higher in the past. Holds a sound each way chance in a competitive race.
7 MR MICHAEL – Irish raiders for this yard always need plenty of respect. Only a single win from twenty-one starts so hardly prolific but has form on soft ground. Comes home strongly so will need this to be run at a good pace.
8 WILDE EXTRAVAGANCE – Sole win in fifteen starts came at the minimum trip on good. A first time hood is fitted as he tries soft ground for the first time. His best form has come on a turning uphill track so far so Redcar may not be ideal.
9 BOOGIE BABE – Didn’t stay seven furlongs last time but well worth a try at this trip as she has done her best work late on over five furlongs. This will be the softest ground she has raced on, good to soft is no issue for her so perhaps this is what she requires to progress..
10 COOL STRUTTER – Just a 2/48 record overall, he is a very tricky customer to win with. Tried over further in the main but his best form has come in his youth over sprint trips with cut in the ground so no back number despite an unappealing profile.
11 RED SHANGHAI – Eighteen race maiden, she has shown very little ability. Beaten a long way when she has encountered soft ground, she is impossible to make a case for.
1 TAN – Not lived up to his French form so far in the UK but produced his best run so far last time out at Musselburgh. He was nibbled at in the market on that occasion, with this step back up to six potentially suiting as he has won at this trip. Interesting each way player.
4 MALCOLM THE PUG – Another sporting a first time tongue strap, he has shown little for this yard since winning a seller for his previous yard. All his best form has come on good to firm ground so easy to oppose.
