This is a Class 2 handicap raced over 1m 6f, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: Mark Johnston’s mare YORKIDDING continues to give an excellent account of herself and she can go in again today. She ran with credit at Newcastle last time out and this looks decidedly easier so she can dominate her rivals today. Sebastian’s Wish is her main rival in seek of yet another success but he will want better ground than this and the handicapper may have caught up now.
1 TAWDEEA – Has been dropped 2lbs following a 7 1/4 length defeat at Ascot last time out. He’s struggled in some competitive events this season but he wasn’t disgraced in a Listed event in France back in April and he shouldn’t be far away stepped back up in trip to 1m 6f today. The ground should be fine and the booking of Daniel Tudhope is positive.
2 YORKIDDING – Was narrowly denied in the Chester Cup earlier this season, beaten by a neck in the 17-runner event. She gained compensation at Haydock in May with a success over 2 miles. She wasn’t beaten that far in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last time out and this is certainly weaker than a couple of her recent assignments. She remains on a fair mark and she can go well again for a yard that keeps getting a tune out of her.
3 KENSINGTON STAR – Lightly-raced 4yo who needs to do more off this mark and in this grade than he has shown recently to get competitive. He was beaten 10 1/2 lengths last time out at Ripon and the Soft ground can’t have been an excuse that day having won on the surface previously. The step back up in trip looks positive but he has something to answer on the back of his most recent effort.
4 GREAT FIGHTER – Without a win in 5 attempts on Good going but he’s won twice at this track and the ground could well dry out enough in time. He completed a double earlier this season, beating Kensington Star by 1 1/2 lengths on one occasion over 2 miles. The step down in trip should be fine although he has looked better over further recently but he should give another good account of himself here.
5 CODESHARE – Needs to do much more to win a race of this nature having struggled in weaker handicaps than this lately. He last won at Newcastle on the All-Weather over an extended 1m 4f and that came off a mark of 79. He remains 5lbs above that mark today and whilst David Allan is a positive booking, he doesn’t look to have much in hand at the weights. Best watched in this.
6 SEBASTIAN’S WISH – Has been in phenomenal form this season with four wins and a placed effort to his name from five starts. He’s been raised 6lbs for a 1 1/2 length victory last time out at this track over 2 miles and the step down in trip will be no problem at all for this C&D winner. He will want the ground to dry out more than it has currently but he’s clearly the form horse in this. Respected.
