3.45pm Bangor Tips & Betting Preview 25/10/2016

The most valuable Steeplechase on Bangor’s card is the Sportingbet Handicap Chase, which will be contested by 8 runners. See our betting tips and our full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Winged Express posted a string of good efforts last season and is back at the right time with his trainer in form. In all probability CHANKILLO may well have needed his return to action and is more than capable of winning a race like this if fully tuned up for today, judged on a string of good efforts he posted in the spring.

1 SWALEDALE LAD – Hasn’t won a race since May 2014, but was a decent 2nd at Sedgefield over further latest (2m3f, Good). If on a going day he’s capable of getting involved but others have more pressing claims.

2 CHANKILLO – Returned to action with a poor 8th of 11 at Hereford earlier in the month (2m, Good), but it is probable he will have needed that run to get his foot back in and open the pipes. If fully revved up for today he is more than capable of winning a race like this with Charlie Hammond taking off a useful 7lb.

3 BALLYCOOL – Jumping mistakes have been costing him dear of late, with a very poor round posted when a 19 length 3rd of 8 at Sedgefield (2m3f, Good). That was a dismal effort and he unseated the rider on his penultimate start, so hard to be confident with him today.

4 WINGED EXPRESS – Running very well last season with a string of good efforts in the Spring, culminating in a good 2nd at Newton Abbot back in April (2m, Soft). Trainer is having a good autumn and if reappearing in the same vein he should be in the shakeup, but would probably prefer the ground softer than it is.

5 BLAKE DEAN – Beaten short priced favourite latest when 4th at Hexham (2m4f, Good), but will appreciate today’s drop back in trip. Only his 4th chase start today and has room for improvement with Noel Fehily into the saddle, respected.

6 HUMBEL BEN – 13yo who added to his tally when winning at Fontwell back in August (2m1f, Good). Doesn’t however look the most likely to go in again and others look much more solid types, but as a Course and Distance winner, he has to be respected. Place claims.

7 MAIZY MISSILE – Won at Newton Abbot back in June (2m,Good to Soft) and ran respectably on the 3 efforts that followed. However was disappointing latest when an eased 8th of 10 at Uttoxeter (1m7f, Good), and was held on her other 3 efforts proceeding the win. Not getting any younger at 14yo and others have much more solid claims.

8 SPREAD BOY – Chase debut showed some encouragement when 3rd of 5 at Sedgefield back in September a neck behind Blake Dean (2m, Good). However he was well beaten on 2nd run at Hexham finishing a lonely 8th of 10 (1m7f, Good) and is out of the handicap today. Up against it.

myracing Forecast Prices: 2/1 Blake Dean, 3/1 Winged Express, 4/1 Humbel Ben, 5/1 Swaledale Lad, 10/1 Chankillo, 12/1 Ballycool, 16/1 Maizy Missile, 33/1 Spread Boy
