3.45pm Epsom Tips and Betting Preview 01/10/2017

A good looking handicap which brings together some consistent types as well as some unexposed youngsters, read on for expert analysis and tips.

IN SUMMARY: SWISS STORM (9/4) should be very difficult to beat here off what could be a very lenient mark of 89, he powered through the line to win a very strong maiden last year and has always been very highly regarded. Isabella and Fujaira Bridge should give him something to think about but he may well be a cut above these.

1 ISABELLA – This lightly raced filly was only just touched off by a progressive rival when bidding for a hat-trick last time and still remains very much open to improvement. Untried on ground as soft as this but ran well on good to soft last time so that isn’t a huge concern.

2 DR JULIUS NO – Certainly one of the more exposed in this field and although on a workable mark having gone close off 89 before you feel he might be vulnerable to a more unexposed type that could easily progress past him.

3 SWISS STORM – Won his maiden impressively at the back end of last year (beating a now mid 90s horse) and became a hype horse for the Guineas after he was bought by Godolphin; things haven’t gone to plan this season but he has the potential to be much better than a mark of 89 and is of obvious interest.

4 FUJAIRA BRIDGE – Ran 2nd to none other than Barney Roy on his second racecourse appearance and has improved for being gelded, he ran out an easy winner on this tricky course last time and if handling the ground he should make his presence felt.

5 LORD GLENAGHCASTLE – Beaten comfortably by Fujaira Bridge two starts ago before a below par run last time leaves him with something to prove, has won over this course and distance however and won’t mind the ground so can’t be entirely discounted.

6 HEATONGRAD – Found improvement on soft ground to win by a neck last time but has been put up 5lb for that and it won’t be easy for him in a much tougher race, others make more appeal.
