3.35pm Uttoxeter Tips & Betting Preview 24/07/2016

Our race preview focuses on a Novice Chase at Uttoxeter. See our betting tips below to uncover which horse can prevail in this intriguing contest.

IN SUMMARY: A few of these have their chase debuts which adds another layer of intrigue to this race. One For The Guv’Nr has good hurdles form and could well play a part in this if taking to fences today and Presenting Arms has a good chase form and could have more to come. PRINCETON ROYALE however has only raced once over fences when running the field into the floor and beating an odds on Gordon Elliot favourite. He has potential in abundance and if given a soft lead will be very tough to beat.

1 NICOLAS CHAUVIN – Won his first race over fences on penultimate start at Huntingdon (16f, Good) and the hood worn for that run was taken off when very poor at Uttoxeter latest (16f, Good). If the hood perks him back up he can run well but has stamina to prove. De Boinville is up so that could suggest he’s Seven Barrows’ first pick.

2 PRESENTING ARMS – Has been running well in defeat as of late, but last win came on chase debut in March at Doncaster (19f, Soft). He’s a very sound jumper and can be relied on to give a decent account and he wont get a better opportunity than today to win. Clearly needs something more though.

3 PRINCETON ROYALE – Was a useful hurdler and made a great start to his chase career when making all at Cartmel (21f, Good). He beat a very well fancied odds on Gordon Elliot horse that day and beat the 3rd placed horse by nearly 55 lengths. If keeping jumping in check and given a soft lead, he might just grind this out again.

4 GIOIA DI VITA – Making chase debut today. Has been useful over hurdles and is rated in the 130’s, has the ground and trip that he will love and is in very good hands, both with stable (Dr Richard Newland) and jockey (Sam Twiston-Davies). Could give a bold show if jumping is sound but could struggle to peg back a few of these.

5 MILAN BOUND – Chase debut at Uttoxeter (20f, Heavy) can probably be ignored as his form in Heavy over hurdles was just as poor as that run. However he wasn’t exactly fluent that day which is of bigger concern. Ground is fine today and so is the trip so he has no excuses.

6 ONE FOR THE GUV’NR – Lightly raced hurdler who makes his chase debut today for the powerful Henderson stable. A useful hurdler at his best and couldn’t be in much better hands. Ground is okay but a slight question mark is raised as to the trip, but will probably run well if taking to fences.

7 VALNAMIXE DU MEE – Makes chase debut today. Best hurdles form is leagues below the rest of these and therefore can easily be passed over, should be completely outclassed.

8 PROMANCO – Has won over hurdles, but that was in May 2015 and makes chase debut today. Even that form is inferior to the other chase debutants though so most likely needs the switch to fences to have a huge impact to figure in this.
