3.30pm Plumpton Tips & Betting Preview 17/10/2016

The Tim Vaughan trained Looksnowtlikebrian was smashed off the boards before being withdrawn at Uttoxeter a few days ago and again he is an absentee this afternoon which opens the door for GOODWOOD MOONLIGHT.  Still unexposed over hurdles, he ran better than his final position suggested last time and he is well treated on the pick of his flat form from earlier in the year.

1 EXECUTIVE PRINCE – Pulled up at Newton Abbot when last seen in July but has shown enough ability to suggest he can win a race of this nature. His third behind Barman at Worcester is rock solid form and he wouldn’t have to improve much on that to be a massive player here.

2 LOOKSNOWTLIKEBRIAN NR – Withdrawn at Uttoxeter a few days ago after being smashed from 12/1 into 2/1 overnight. Travelled well for a long way after six months off the track when 6th of 14 runners at Uttoxeter last month and should strip much fitter for this assignment. Leading player with Johnson booked.

3 BOLISTER – Pulled up here at Plumpton when last seen but this Gary Moore trained horse still has low mileage on the clock. Ran his career best race here when 3rd in January and the trainer does very well at this track. Keep an eye on the market as that will reveal a lot.

4 GANYMEDE – Won a Uttoxeter handicap off a mark of 89 last month but couldn’t cope with a seven pound rise 11 days later when well down the field at the same venue. Possibly that race came too soon but the handicapper may have the measure of him for now. Chance if he can bounce back.

5 LITTLE BUXTED – Well down the field on all latest five starts so is impossible to fancy but it is interesting that Jamie Moore rides this horse instead of his fathers’ runner in the race. Like all Jim Best horses’ it is worth watching the market as any moves would be significant.

6 REST EASY – Very well bred by Rip Van Winkle but certainly possesses none of his sire’s ability on the evidence before us. Well beat on all ten starts between the flat and jumps to date and would be a shock winner to say the least.

7 RON WAVERLY – This is the horses’ debut for the Michelle Bryant stable. The tongue strap goes on straight away which may not be a good sign. Has a couple of solid place efforts on the flat to his name but he doesn’t look a winner in waiting and will surely need the run.

8 AUSTIN FRIARS – Another Jim Best trained runner, this time with Brendan Powell booked for the job. This New Approach gelding certainly has ability; he was a winner at Lingfield on the flat for Charlie Appleby but things haven’t worked out since. Any money would be very interesting if it came for the horse.

9 GOODWOOD MOONLIGHT – Won at Chelmsford over 1m 2f back in January and ran a good race when a solid 5th at Ludlow earlier this month. This looks a very weak contest so he wouldn’t have to improve much to be a major player.
