3.30pm Newton Abbot Tips & Betting Preview 20/10/2016

Our race preview takes a look at an extremely competitive Handicap Hurdle on Newton Abbot’s Thursday card. See the full preview and all our betting tips below.

IN SUMMARY: Peter The Mayo Man will do very well to defy a mark of 125 on handicap debut conceding a lot of weight all around. That will probably allow NACHI FALLS to complete the four timer. He’ll be 6lb higher in the future and seems to be improving at a rapid rate and can land the spoils today. Verni may well be the main danger, but has something to prove after being off the track since April.

1 PETER THE MAYO MAN – Has rattled off two empathetic victories at Worcester and Warwick over the 2m trip. Clearly in great shape but will need to improve again here off of a mark of 125 on handicap debut, conceding a lot of weight all around which will be no easy task.

2 VERNI – Made a good start to hurdles life when a good 3rd on debut at Uttoxeter (2m, Heavy) and then won easily at odds of 30/100 at Newton Abbot a few months later (2m2f, Soft). That however was back in April and would probably prefer the ground softer than it is forecasted, so probably best watched today.

3 WOLFTRAP – Was in good form and a game winner at Worcester back in May (2m, Good to Soft). Will probably prove vulnerable today with the forecasted good ground.

4 NACHI FALLS – Improving with every run and goes for the four timer today on handicap debut after forging clear in the closing stages at Market Rasen (2m, Good), beating a horse who has followed up twice since. Due to be 6lb higher in the future and has a brilliant chance of making it four on the spin today.

5 ARTY CAMPBELL – Returns to hurdling for the first time since November 2015 and it will be very difficult to get off the mark in this discipline pitched into a very competitive event today. More exposed than these and will need the first time cheekpieces to have a huge effect to win this.

6 TSUNDOKU – Runs for new stable after falling at Gowran Park for Margaret Mullins back in June. Has won previously so commands a bit of respect but is certainly best watched now returning in an extremely competitive event.

myracing Forecast Prices: 1/1 Nachi Falls, 13/8 Peter The Mayo Man, 3/1 Verni, 8/1 Arty Campbell, 8/1 Wolftrap, 25/1 Tsundoku
