IN SUMMARY: HARD GRAFT is given a chance in an extremely open race where plenty could be well handicapped and equally as many are horribly out of form. Others of interest are Diamond Dougal and W G Grace.
DADDIES GIRL – Won nicely last time out on similar underfoot conditions, but a six pound rise doesn’t leave her looking overly well handicapped. This is a very competitive event and she’ll need to progress to get involved.
DIAMOND DOUGAL – Officially two pounds well-in racing off a penalty for a heavy ground win last time. He handles these conditions as well, however, and cannot be discounted and he is technically ahead of the handicapper.
CAMEO STAR – A lightly raced colt who wasn’t beaten far on an encouraging enough nursery debut. He will need to come on for that, but it isn’t out of the realms of possibility and may have an each way shout.
ALASKA – Wasn’t beaten overly far a couple of starts ago off a three pound higher mark, however this is a much more competitive race than he has been contesting in recent times. His standout piece of form (second to Roussel) is a long way back in the memory now.
HARD GRAFT – Only beaten two lengths on his first start in a nursery which was a very promising start. Despite being well-beaten next time out he remains of interest and has a chance in a wide open race if proving that he can handle the ground.
SHANIA SAYS – Has run plenty of respectable races of late, including over this course and distance. She has a very talented five pound claimer on her back and it would be no surprise were she to run her race once again and hit the frame.
GLOBAL EXCEED – Won well on good to soft ground at Lingfield two starts ago, that was, however, off ten pounds lower and he will need to improve in a race of this nature. Nevertheless, he is clearly in good form and it’s not impossible to imagine that he can get involved.
LIFE FOR RENT – Gained a first win last time, but that was over a furlong less on rattling quick ground and the conditions here will be far different. He only got given three pounds for that win by the handicapper so if acting over trip and ground he could be interesting.
CE DE NULLIS – Beaten just a length last time out and only up one pound. Paul Midgley can never be discounted in these sprint handicaps and looks like a type who remains open to improvement. It would be dangerous to discount her.
IVY LEAGUER – Still a maiden but has been rather highly tried having run behind the likes of Rajasinghe and Havana Grey. He’s had decent efforts in nurseries so far and is now fitted with headgear which makes him of some interest.
W G GRACE – Has run three good races since switched to nursery company, including shedding his maiden tag. Improvement should see him bang there with an each way shout in this big field handicap.
EXCELLENT TIMES – Beaten just half a length on this ground and trip in a 20 runner nursery at Redcar last time. She clearly doesn’t mind large fields and a repeat effort off a slightly higher mark would see her go close once again.
REVENGE – Not beaten far two starts ago over a furlong further, but he hasn’t raced on turf since May. There is a question mark over whether he is slightly better on an artificial surface.
ROMAN SPINNER – His win and second on the All Weather would put him right there, yet his three runs on turf at the start of his career weren’t overly inspiring. If transferring his improvement back to this surface, however, he has a big shout.
SARIA – Ran a good race last time to be beaten just a length, but is racing off two pounds higher here, even with a seven pound claimer on her back. That may stop her from repeating the form she showed in her previous start.
PLANSINA – Not many of her runs inspire much confidence that she is well handicapped and she’ll do well to get involved in such a competitive looking race.
