This is a Class 6 maiden raced over an extended mile sponsored by MyRacing, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: This is a weak maiden and the race can go to TRUE COLORS. He made a pleasing debut at Carlisle last month and he will be suited by today’s slightly softer ground so he should take all the beating ahead of Love Me Again who ran a respectable race behind some decent types at Yarmouth last time out. Suit Of Lights is worth a second look in the betting with possibly more to come.
AFTERBURNER – Gelded before he made it to the racetrack and he ran a poor race on debut at Chelmsford. He finished eighth of ten, beaten 24 lengths and that must have come as a surprise having seen market support for him. He was far too green to do himself justice and he will need to make a major step forward to win today. Best watched on that run.
BAMO MC – Made his debut over a mile at Yarmouth last month, finishing seventh in a 12-strong field. He was beaten 12 1/2 lengths that day having been slowly into stride before running in snatches, weakening gradually in the final furlong. He will be one for handicaps later down the line and is best watched here for the Mike Murphy yard.
BIG BAD LOL – Gelded son of Big Bad Bob who ran no sort of race in a fairly-decent maiden at Windsor last month. He stayed on well enough towards the end of the race but his chance had long gone and he will need a much sharper start to get into contention today. Richard Kingscote remains in the saddle which is positive but others are preferred today.
GLENN COCO – Finished a distant third of seven at Newmarket at the end of June having stayed on nicely to claim third place. On that evidence, a mile should be a major positive for him today and his pedigree suggests he could want a middle-distance trip as he gets older so he can be forgiven for not getting closer on debut. Deserves some respect in a weak maiden today.
IDIDITFORYOOOO – Has produced some moderate form in two starts to date. He finished a distant fifth at Sandown last time out when stepped up in trip to 1m 2f but that was a fair run having shown some progression from his debut run. He has plenty of stamina on his dam’s side so it’s a small surprise seeing him dropped down in trip and he may be one for handicaps.
LONG SOCKS – Alan King’s 3yo has produced some particularly average form in two starts to date although he was tried in a decent enough maiden at Haydock last time out. The ground should be fine for him but he wants further than a mile based on pedigree and on his two starts to date so he’s best watched given he’ll receive a mark after today’s run. The yard are without a winner from 12 runners in the past fortnight.
LORD COMMANDER – Non-runner.
SARADANI BAY – 8,000 Euro yearling by Mawatheeq out of an un-raced mare. His profile suggests he’ll need plenty of time and a longer trip than this and hes almost certainly going to need his racecourse debut today. However, such is the weak nature of this race he will only need to run to a moderate mark to be in contention so he’s worth keeping an eye on in the betting. The yard have sent out two winners from their last 7 runners.
SUIT OF LIGHTS – Beaten 11 lengths on debut at Salisbury just 5 days ago. He was sent off 33/1 that day and he is likely to start a similar price today having had very little time to grow and improve upon his debut run. His dam’s sire is Galileo so he shouldn’t be devoid of ability and the step up in trip to an extended mile will suit so he’s not entirely discounted.
SWAFFHAM BULBECK – Has shown only a moderate amount of ability in two career starts. He was beaten 9 1/2 lengths in a Class 6 maiden at Wolverhampton last month which is poor form and he will receive a handicap mark after today’s race. Best watched until he faces handicap company and a longer trip. The yard has a 7% strike rate at Nottingham.
TRUE COLORS – Made a pleasing impression on debut at Carlisle last month, finishing third of six, beaten just over 3 lengths. He stayed on well that day having been caught for a slight bit of pace and he will be suited by this softer ground today. He has leading claims in this weak maiden and he should better Richard Fahey’s record at Nottingham with a win against a poor bunch of rivals.
LADY PRIMA – Finished last of 6 last time out having showed little progression from her first career start. That was a much stronger maiden than this and Mike Murphy’s runner will appreciate this step up in trip so there are reasons to be positive. However, she will be eligible for handicaps after today and she may be best watched with that in mind for a yard operating with a 13% strike rate at present.
LOVE ME AGAIN – Progressed from her first to second run, finishing 4 1/4 lengths behind the experienced Cool Team at Yarmouth. That was a relatively decent maiden and this is a step down in grade so she should go well although the yard are without a winner from their last 8 runners. This trip looks perfect for her and the conditions should be fine. Respected.
STEADY – Interesting flat runner for the Dan Skelton stable. His filly was picked up for 12,000 Euros as a 2yo and it’s interesting that she’s raced today for a yard operating at a 32% strike rate at present, albeit over jumps. The market will be the best guide to her chances in this given she wouldn’t have to be anything special to make a winning debut.
THE LADY RULES – Dam was a maiden from 7 starts having been stepped up in trip to middle distances following poor efforts over 7 furlongs. It’s hard to see her making a winning debut based on her pedigree and she’s almost certain to need her racecourse debut. The yard have failed to send out a winner from 10 runners at Nottingham and others are preferred.
