A field of eight for this staying handicap hurdle with a prize of £5,198. Read on for expert analysis and betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: A poor quality handicap where the most interesting contender is SPIN POINT who makes his handicap debut for Ian Williams and has the services of the champion jockey, next on the shortlist has to be the consistent Miss Mayfair who has been running well of late.
SHINOOKI – Has struggled in three consecutive starts since being raised five pounds for a gritty victory back in January, has slipped back to that winning mark as a result however and if rediscovering similar form he is entitled to go well.
MOIDORE – Hasn’t won since April 2016 and hasn’t performed with much credit of late having been pulled up when last seen but has slipped to a dangerous mark of 108 which is twelve pounds lower than when last in the winner’s enclosure, risky but not out of it.
DOOLIN – Beaten a country mile in two novices’ hurdles and a maiden hurdle but makes his handicap debut here, showed ability in a point and a bumper so a mark of 102 isn’t entirely impossible and can’t be confidently ruled out.
THE WAY YOU DANCE – Neil Mulholland is a canny trainer and this one takes a big step up in trip having had a couple of spins on the flat to stay fit, won off this mark as well as a mark three pounds higher last year and must be on the shortlist.
OAKIDOKI – 0-6 under rules having been beaten in four hurdles and two bumpers, was beaten a long way on handicap debut and is only three pounds lower here, the overall balance of form doesn’t inspire much confidence and others are preferred.
SPIN POINT – A modest flat performer who has been kept busy in that sphere of late, has a lowly rating of 100 for his handicap debut over timber and runs for a shrewd combination of Ian Williams and Richard Johnson; interesting.
MISS MAYFAIR – Comes here in the best form of these having finished a close second in her last two starts, hard to pick holes in that form in the context of this race and has the excellent Aidan Coleman on board, must be considered.
RAISING HOPE – A run of the mill hurdler who is six pounds higher than his last winning mark, has had a couple of tries over fences recently but hasn’t looked like winning and improvement doesn’t look likely, can be overlooked.
